When it's time to make the leap into a new DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Indio Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your DIY project with the right tools for the job. Let our Tool Rental Center in Indio expand your tool belt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent the tools you need and return them when the job is done. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available to purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to blow leaves away. Fall will be here soon, so have a leaf blower at the ready. It's far less work than raking. It's also great to use on concrete sidewalks, driveways, and hardscaping surfaces. Choose from walk-behind, handheld, or backpack leaf blowers.
Chainsaws
Preserve the beauty and safety of the trees and woody shrubs in your yard with a rental chainsaw. As this likely isn't a tool you'll need daily, it makes sense to rent it when it comes time to clean up your yard. It's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming once the leaves are off the trees. We carry both electric and gas chainsaws, so we know you'll find one that fits the job.
Heaters
If you dislike working or being outside in the cold, browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They are safer than torch patio heaters because portable heaters don't have an open flame, and they also blow the hot air for greater coverage. We carry propane, electric, and gas heaters in various sizes. Couple this with good outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the evening hours with the extra warmth.
Truck Rental
To move large tool rentals or anything else, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, packing, and storage needs, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we have in stock.
Although we're calling out popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to ask about a large equipment, truck, or tool. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes equipment terms and conditions.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to check out the documentation before choosing your truck.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off residual dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. You'll likely not get a sharp blade when you rent, as most people won't leave one on there when they return it. However, you might get lucky and have a sharpened one. As there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Large equipment and select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I receive my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for an affordable rate — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
