When it's time to make the leap into a big home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Dallas Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.
Tool Rental
Start your DIY project with the right tools for the job. Let our Tool Rental Center in Lemmon Ave expand your tool belt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent the tools you need and return them when the job is complete. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available to buy. The retired rental tools are discounted in comparison to the new items in our aisles.
Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to maintain your lawn. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's much easier than raking them into piles. It's also great to use on hardscaping surfaces, concrete sidewalks, and driveways. You can rent one of our handheld, backpack, or walk-behind leaf blowers.
Air Compressors
When renting pneumatic tools like nail guns, you'll need an air compressor to provide the power. Renting an air compressor means you save room in your garage while getting the right tools for your job. Choose from an electric or gas air compressor in a size that suits your project.
Heaters
If you don't enjoy working or being outside in the cold, browse our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep outdoor events, barns, or workspaces warm. They are safer than torch patio heaters because portable heaters have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We offer gas, propane, and electric heaters in various sizes. Couple this with nice outdoor lighting and a jacket, and you can extend work or play well into the evening with the extra warmth.
Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, storage needs, and packing, it's easy to make us your go-to source for transport and moving as well.
Box Truck Rentals
When you need a 12-foot box truck for a small move, we've got just what you need. It's a great solution for cross-town moves. Use it for transporting extra belongings to a storage space as well. Get your truck, pack it full, then return it to that same store when you're done.
Penske Moving Trucks
You feel confident doing your DIY projects with us. Do the same when it's time to move to a new space. We carry Penske moving trucks ranging from 12-foot to 26-foot lengths. Use our trucks to haul all your belongings – from everything in a college dorm or small apartment to the contents of a 5-bedroom house.
How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you must bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to review the contract and the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean off built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, call the rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
Do saw rentals come with saw blades?
Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent blade on the saw. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to buy a suitable blade, just in case you need it.
Do I need to refill the rental truck with gas?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.
How do I get my large equipment rental?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to the job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't an option, speak to one of our Orange Aprons for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?
Think of your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
