How do I rent tools or trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks or tools you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you drive there, call first to inquire about a truck or tool. Can I rent a tool for a month?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and we can accommodate large projects as well. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When can I bring the tools back?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the contract before choosing your truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Can I rent a truck with only a driver's license?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
