Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like wind and solar.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

What types of Halloween decoration are most popular?
Many families love Halloween and decorating with pumpkins, werewolves, witches, and of course, skeletons. Our best-selling Skelly, the giant 12-foot skeleton, is ready for your porch or yard. We've got Skelly accessories and Skelly's dog to keep him company this year. Make a cemetery with tombstones, then decorate it with graveyard bones and inhabitants to create a scary atmosphere. Halloween inflatables and animatronics are a quick and easy way to add spooky spirit when searching for outdoor Halloween decorations, too.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making less noise when they create less power. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
What home repairs should I make before it gets cold?
Ready your home for colder weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks. Indoors, ensure ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be swapped out if they're in poor condition.
What storage solutions do you offer?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Moving blankets can protect fragile items as they're packed together. Shoe racks and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular present for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. Purchase them at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Redeem our gift cards for online or in-store shopping, all with no additional fees.
