Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Do you stock big outdoor Halloween decorations?
Yes, we carry a number of large outdoor Halloween decorations, including many life-sized animatronics. Make your front yard the spookiest in the neighborhood with giant Halloween decor options, including reapers, skeletons, and witches. Dean the Deathologist and Skelly, the giant 12-foot skeleton, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables are another way to up the drama and create interest.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with tornados, hurricanes, thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Ready your home for cold weather by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for a real headache. Check brick and cinder block for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine roof shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed if in poor condition.
What's the best way to store extra holiday decor?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Shoe storage and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent choice for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. They can be purchased at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you receive a gift card, you can visit the Se Anchorage Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Our gift cards can be redeemed in-store or used to shop online with no additional fees.
