The Home Depot Rental Center at S Olathe

When it's time to make the leap into a big home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Home Depot Olathe Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.

Tool Rental
Start your next DIY project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let The Home Depot Olathe Tool Rental Center expand your toolbox with the tools you don't have on hand. Rent what you need and bring them back when you're done. In fact, if you found the tools so useful that you didn't want to return them, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted compared to the new items in our aisles.

Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to maintain your lawn. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready to go. It's much easier than raking them into piles. It's also great to use on hardscaping surfaces, concrete sidewalks, and driveways. You can rent one of our handheld, backpack, or walk-behind leaf blowers.

Chainsaws
Preserve the beauty and safety of the trees and woody shrubs in your yard with a rental chainsaw. Since you might not need this tool every day, it makes sense to rent it when it's time for some yard cleanup. It's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming once the leaves are off the trees. We carry both electric and gas chainsaws, so we know you'll find one that fits the job.

Heaters
A comfortable room makes everything easier, so be sure to check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep workspaces, outdoor events, or barns warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they have no open flame, and they also blow the hot air for greater coverage. We offer electric, gas, and propane heaters in a range of sizes. Pair this with good outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play later into the evening hours.

Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks ready for rental, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for packing, storage needs, and DIY projects, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle massive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please reach out to your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see which tools or trucks you can rent. If you'd like confirmation before you get there, call first to ask about a truck, large equipment, or tool. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, including equipment terms and conditions.

How long can I rent tools?

You can rent a tool for four hours or more. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small DIY projects may only require a rental for a few hours, and bigger jobs aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call the Rental Center for an extension and avoid late fees.

When do I need to return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you buy your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and have a sharpened blade on the saw. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the truck, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck or large equipment?

No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I get my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you may be able to get large equipment delivered straight to the job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prepare your rented equipment, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on rented large equipment?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid injuring yourself or damaging the equipment. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
