How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what trucks and tools are up for rent. If you'd like to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool for a week?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. It depends on how long you'd like to rent them. Small home improvement projects may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects can also be accomodated. You've got options to rent tools by the month, day, or week, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I bring the tools back?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off dust, mud, and grime from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, call your local rental center to see if you can extend your rental period.
How long can I rent a truck?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be plenty. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must bring it back to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you bring it back. Make a note of the amount of gas in the tank when you receive the truck, and fill it with enough gas to match that level. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be 21 or older. Depending on your state, you may require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck.
