Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you have big outdoor Halloween decorations?
We carry many kinds of large outdoor Halloween decorations, many of which are animatronics. Make your yard the creepiest in the neighborhood with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, reapers, and witches. Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton, and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables tend to be less scary and are an excellent choice for homes with children.
Why should I get a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with severe thunderstorms, snowstorms hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Should I do siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for winter weather by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be looking at trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap out chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
What are some storage solutions for a crowded holiday home?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow unused items to free up space. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe storage and other storage containers remove summer belongings from the equation. Moving blankets protect fragile items as they're packed together. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the right amount of space.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular choice for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. Purchase them at our stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can visit the Spring Valley Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store, all with no additional fees.
