The Home Depot Rental Center at Topeka

When it's time to make the leap into a new home improvement project, you might not have everything you need in the garage or shed. Don't let that stop you when you can stop by The Topeka Rental Center for tools, trucks, and large equipment.

Tool Rental
Start your DIY project with confidence and the right tools for the job. Let our Tool Rental Center in Topeka expand your tool belt with the items you don't have on hand. Rent the tools you need and return them when the job is finished. If those rental tools just went from wanted to needed, we have used tools available for purchase. The retired rental tools are discounted in comparison to the new items in our aisles.

Leaf Blowers
Try renting a leaf blower to blow leaves away. Fall will be in full swing soon, so have a leaf blower ready. It's much easier than raking them into piles. It's also great to use on concrete sidewalks, hardscaping surfaces, and driveways. Choose from handheld, backpack, or walk-behind leaf blowers.

Chainsaws
Preserve the beauty and safety of the woody shrubs and trees in your yard with a rental chainsaw. As this likely isn't a tool you'll need daily, try renting it when prepping your yard for a new season. It's much easier to spot any troublesome branches and do basic trimming once the leaves are off the trees. We carry both electric and gas chainsaws, so we know you'll find one that fits the job.

Heaters
There's nothing better than a comfortable room, so check out our heater rentals. Portable heaters keep barns, workspaces, or outdoor events warm. They're safer than torch patio heaters because they don't have an open flame, and they also blow the hot air for more coverage. We carry gas, electric, and propane heaters in various sizes. Couple this with some nice outdoor lighting, and you can extend work or play later into the evening hours.

Truck Rental
To make it easier to transport large tool rentals, we keep pickup trucks as well as Penske moving trucks on hand, with availability varying by store. You're sure to find the right size truck rental for your DIY project so you can keep your timeline running smoothly. As your trusted source for DIY projects, storage needs, and packing, it's easy to make us your go-to source for moving and transport as well.

Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with the right professional equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need to finish the job yourself. From the boom and scissor lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers for hauling materials, we've got a surprising variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore and see what we've got in stock.

Although we're calling out popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, not everything is available at every rental center. If you have a particular tool in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rentals

How do I rent tools, trucks, or large equipment?

Stop by your local Rental Center to see what's available. If you'd like to know what's in stock, call first to inquire about a truck, large equipment, or tool. You could also check out our tool and equipment rental or truck rental pages to see if what you need is offered at your favorite store. For more info on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.

Can I rent a truck for a week?

Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes could be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the week or the day, depending on the length of your project. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the job site and the store, as you'll need to bring it back to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Be sure to check out the contract and the terms and conditions before you choose a truck.

When do I return the tools?

You can return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on time works, too. As long as you return it by the deadline you were given when you rented it, you'll be good to go. Please clean any built-up dirt from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.

Do saw rentals come with saw blades?

Yes, power saw rentals generally come with blades, but we do recommend that you purchase your own. Your rental likely won't come with a new blade. However, you may luck out and receive an excellent one. Since there's no guarantee, it's better to purchase a suitable blade, just in case you need it.

Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?

Yes, please fill up the truck before you return it. Note the original fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. If you don't, you have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.

Can I rent a truck or large equipment with only a driver's license?

No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. We do not accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements, so read those if you plan to rent a Penske truck. Some tools and large equipment also require ID verification via CLEAR.

How do I receive my large equipment rental?

Depending on your location, you can get large equipment delivered straight to your job site for a reasonable cost — whether that's out in the field or at your own home. We'll need at least 24 hours' notice so we can adequately prep your rental delivery for you, and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.

How do I avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?

Treat your rented large equipment as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and that you obey traffic laws. Read the instructions so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are, as cancelling within 12 hours of delivery means you'll incur a cancellation fee. Extend your rental period if you need extra time so you won't get hit with a late fee.
