How do I rent tools and trucks?
Stop by your local Rental Center to see which trucks or tools you can rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent a tool by the hour?
Tool rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY projects may only require a rental that's a few hours long, and long-term projects can also be accomodated. You've got options to rent tools by the day, week, or month, too. If you need it longer than what you signed up for, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you finish your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any mud or dirt from the tool as well. If you need the tools longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a moving van or truck for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive to and from the store, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before you choose a truck.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Match the level of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. If you don't, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
