Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

You can also check out our Home Depot product locator app, which displays the available inventory, as well as a store map and aisle location for the items you're looking for.
At The Home Depot, we value our community. Through grants and volunteer programs, The Home Depot Foundation partners with thousands of organizations to repair or build homes for those who are recovering from natural disasters.

Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether you're dealing with thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Why should I repair my roof before spring severe weather arrives?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be headed for trouble. Check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped if damaged.
What are the benefits of doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off would-be porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
