Recycling at Home Depot

Did you know?
This store helps divert waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling
This store recycles all shrink wrap, contributing to the 780 million pounds that The Home Depot sold to Trex last year. This is used to manufacture composite decking, bringing us one step closer to a circular economy.
LED lights in your local store helped save on energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours last year. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn More.

Your Van Nuys Store Team
Do you carry Halloween string lights?
Yes, we stock many indoor and outdoor Halloween lights to set the mood and light up the night. Use flickering lights to create a terrifying sight for trick-or-treaters or settle on cute jack-o'-lantern faces that glow. We offer plug-in, solar, or battery-operated Halloween lights.
Are Kids Workshops offered at the Van Nuys Home Depot?
Yes, the Van Nuys store offers in-person Kids Workshops. These in-store events are free and take place every first Saturday of the month between 9am and noon. Registration for workshops is not yet open, but Kids Workshop kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Keep little doers engaged with a new kit pack for each event. Included in the kits are all necessary craft materials, as well as instructions, stickers, an apron pin, a certificate of achievement, and a Discovery Education extension activity. Any required tools, such as paint, are provided at the workshop. Kits may be ordered online at our Kids Projects Activities page or picked up in-store if you prefer to participate in the workshop from home. Call us or visit our customer service counter to check the availability of the kits.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
The Home Depot gift cards are a popular choice during the Holiday season, with givers and doers that can be purchased in-store at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you are a recipient, you can check your gift card balance online or visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Our gift cards can be redeemed in-store or used to make purchases online with no additional fees.
What additional precautions is The Home Depot taking in light of COVID-19?
As part of our normal practice, our stores and other facilities are cleaned and sanitized daily. Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we've increased the frequency of cleaning and general hygiene maintenance in stores and other locations. We've also stepped up our efforts to disinfect high-traffic and high-touch areas like self-checkout, door handles, and bathrooms, as well as posting signage about handwashing and other preventative actions.
We're promoting social distancing in our stores and distribution centers, which includes stores limiting the number of customers inside at any given time. In addition to training our associates on social distancing, we've placed distancing markers at some of our checkout counters and are making overhead announcements on our store PA systems asking customers to practice social distancing.
Does The Home Depot Van Nuys offer curbside pickup?
We deliver curbside and you can order online for convenient store pickup daily until 6 p.m. Here's how:
  1. Buy Online and choose the "Store Pickup" option on the product page or in your cart.
  2. Once your order is processed, you'll receive an email or text message letting you know that it's ready to pick up.
  3. Go to designated Curbside Pickup location at The Home Depot store you selected and follow the instructions received in your email or text notification for Curbside Pickup. Let us know you have arrived by selecting the link in your "Order Ready" communication. Remember to bring your identification.

Terrible customer service by associate named Louis
I’m not sure how this person is employed here, rude and unprofessional. Easily annoyed and incompetent. When I asked for a product recommendation for a product from his dept., he said he doesn’t give recommendations he only sells products, I reminded him that I was there to buy a product - just mind blowing. Apparently I’m not the first to complain, taking my business somewhere else.
    Friendly staff
During checkout the cashier ,Tamannah, was among the most polite and pleasant employees I have ever come across at Home Depot. She greeted customers with a smile and a positive attitude throughout her interactions with each one including myself. What is typically an ordinary visit to the store , as I am a tradesman and I'm there at least once a week, turned into a pleasant experience. Thanks Tamannah!

Easy pleasant visit RUINED by Edna at self checkout!
Edna decided to let a man on the self checkout aisle Next to mine go diagonally across to the kiosk right in front of me. I thought it was my turn already but Edna just ignored me when I asked "are there two lines or one?" Then, The kiosk diagonally across from me opened up. I thought, ok, maybe now I'll go across like the other guy since I'm next. NOT! Another woman started chatting her up and seemed to know her personally and walked right on to that open kiosk. They kept having an extended conversation until finally the kiosk in front of me again opened up. I was finally able to go and she never acknowledged my presence in the line the whole Time as she was too busy yapping with that woman abou their acquaintances!!.

Even tho we're going through COVID-19 they were really nice. They were doing all that was necessary to be safe inside the store. Even in the middle of a hard crisis they treated me very good.
