Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you offer huge Halloween yard decorations?
We carry many types of huge outdoor Halloween decorations, many of which are life-sized animatronics. Make your yard the creepiest in the neighborhood with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, dragons, and witches. Dean the Deathologist and Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables are low-commitment decorations that make a high impact. Blow them up when you're ready to show your nighttime Halloween spirit and deflate them during the day.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
What home repairs should I make before it gets cold?
Ready your home for colder weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for major repairs down the line. Check cinder block and bricks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be changed out if they're damaged.
Are sheds or garage cabinets better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Shoe storage and other storage bins remove summer belongings from the equation. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've been waiting for.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Home Depot gift cards are a popular present for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to receive and to give. You can purchase them online at homedepot.com or in our stores. If you receive a gift card, you can visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store, all with no additional fees.
