Scotts EZ Seed Dog Spot Repair has a special salt neutralizer formula that minimizes the effects of salts from dog urine and repairs up to 100 dog spots in your lawn. Dog Spot Repair Sun and Shade consists of a combination of high performance Perennial Ryegrass, Fine Fescue and Kentucky Bluegrass grass seed, mulch that expands to surround the seed, a soil amendment that helps repair areas burned by dog urine, tackifier to help keep seeds from washing away and a protectant to help keep seeds safe. There are three easy steps to success: 1) prep the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil, 2) evenly apply EZ Seed so the area is mostly covered but bare ground is still visible, and 3) saturate with water until no more water is being absorbed and seed turns dark brown. When EZ Seed begins to turn light brown, it's time to water again. Plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F, or air temperatures between 60°F and 80°F. For best results, keep kids, pets, and lawn mowers off newly planted seedlings until the grass is 3 inches high.

Hi, Thanks for your question on using Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun & Shade. No, I recommend using a Starter Fertilizer such as Scotts Turf Builder for New Lawns. Spread the starter fertilizer on the exact same day you sow the seed to stimulate rapid, thick root development.
Thank you for reaching out about Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun & Shade. Although EZ Seed is primarily designed for patching, you can apply it using a spreader by following a few simple steps. First, adjust your spreader to its highest available setting, and measure the total square footage of the target area. Next, determine the required amount of EZ Seed based on your measurements and pour it into the spreader: - 2 lbs: Covers 42 sq ft (3.9 m²) - 3.75 lbs: Covers 80 sq ft (7.4 m²) - 10 lbs: Covers 210 sq ft (19.5 m²) - 14.5 lbs: Covers 310 sq ft (28.8 m²) - 20 lbs: Covers 420 sq ft (39 m²) Once loaded, walk over the area in alternating, perpendicular directions until the spreader is completely empty. Take care not to over-apply the product, as applying it too thickly causes overcrowding that prevents the grass seed from germinating or establishing properly. There is no need to use a blanket or any other kind of covering with this seed. The mulch that's included with the mixture serves as sufficient cover and has the added benefit of retaining water to keep your seeds moist.
Hello and thanks for your question. Whenever the product is light brown, it needs to be watered. If it is dark brown, no water is needed. Typically this translates into watering 1-2 times a day, 3 times if the weather is hot and/or dry. To get the best results, Scotts EZ Seed Patch & Repair Sun And Shade requires a minimum of 4 hours of sunlight. (Note: There are very few exceptions to this rule, and they rarely come up).
Thanks for reaching out about Scotts Ez-Seed Patch & Repair. This product is a lawn patching product and not meant for over-seeding or reseeding the entire lawn. - Prepare the area by removing dead grass and loosening hard soil. - Apply the product so the area is mostly covered, but the bare ground is still visible (1/16" to 1/8"). The mulch in the product will expand when watered the first time, which is why bare ground should still be visible upon initial application. - Water until the area appears dark brown and no longer expanding. When more water is needed, the product will turn light brown. We'd love the opportunity to gather some more information and offer personalized assistance. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Consumer Services team at 888-270-3714. We're here to help you achieve your lawn goals!
