Q:Can these be used as the framing for supports for a shelf?
by|Nov 25, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Depends on what kind of shelf you're trying to build. Furring strips aren't usually that straight or dimensionally consistent, because they are... well... just furring strips. They also don't have nice 90 degree edges. If you're looking for more of a "finished" look, you should consider pine or poplar.

Q:I'm thinking of using this to tack around plastic sheeting for winter porch use. Are they thin enough to staple gun?

    Answer This Question

A:  Not a staple gun, bit you can use a smaller Guage finish nail that should hold it in place just as well

    by|Nov 25, 2022

A:  They are 3/4 inch thick so probably not.

A:  If you have seen them first...they are not finish grade, very rough, but yes, it would absorb a stain.

                  Worked for blanket ladder
I originally bought the wood for a kitchen project but once I cut it to size and realized it's not really 2" but 1.5" I couldn't use it so...i repurposed it into a blanket ladder! These retail for a ridiculous amount of money and if seen some diy will paint sticks (yes, paint sticks) but this was even cheaper and worked out perfectly. You do need to rumage through the entire pile but after some sanding it was awesome.

You'll need to pick through the pile but youll find what you need. These work great whenever I have to attach drywall to a cinder block wall. They also come in handy for some DIY craft projects.

I use these to make wooden flags, which turns out looking great. There are usually a few bad pieces which ends up in being used for something else or the bon fire pile.
