Can this pipe be safely used as a "fireman's pole" on a kids play structure?

Can this pipe be safely used as a "fireman's pole" on a kids play structure?
Asked by: tljen
actually yes, I've seen it done. Secured in the ground and above it is rigid enough to support a child sliding down. But beware of oxidation - the kids are going to have black streaks all over themselves.

I don't think it's meant for, or would be suitable for any kind of structural support or load bearing uses. Heavier steel or aluminum pipe would fit your needs better.

Is the conduit thicker than .057 and if so what is the thickness?

Asked by: Pequod
According to the specs. The OD is 2.197 with the ID at 2.067 that would leave you with .130 difference, so half of that leaves .065 wall thickness.

How much weight will this bear vertically as a post?

Making a DIY dock in shallow freshwater, thinking about using this conduit, cut into about 3 ft tall pieces.
Asked by: NorthernMichigander
well over 450 lbs as long as it is absolutely vertical to a level area on the bottom and the weight placed on top of it is perfectly perpendicular. cut into shorter lengths will proportionally increase the amount of weight it can support. For example: a 3ft length will support 900 lbs.. I know these facts as I am using it cut to 36" lengths for LEGS of a machine shop ultra flat iron table which weighs over 1600 lbs. distributed over FOUR 3ft. lengths of this conduit, that's 400 lbs per leg.
