Not 8 Feet Long!
I purchased a couple of 2 x 12 x 8 pine boards to build a wheelchair landing for my sister. I set up my miter saw, prepared to mark my first cut, and was shocked to discover the actual length is only 7 ft 9/16 in. —nearly half of an inch short of the advertised length of 8 ft! Seriously!!! Call me old fashioned, but an 8 ft. board used to be 8 ft. right?

My lumbers cracked and bowed in less than 3 months. I used them with 4x4 supports too for my raised bed. Some bowed and cracked before I even assembled the bed, unfortunately could not return as I didn't have a truck.

After searching through several boards I found one just perfect for my project. The quality of the product was fantastic, there were no knots in the entire board, which was planed down to a thickness of 1 1/8, then cut to 11 deep x 10.5 wide x 28 tall. The customer requested a custom build, which will be used as a CPAP night stand table in a limited space.

This 2x12 Weyerhaeuser Prime Kiln Dried Southern Yellow pine only needed to have me run it through the planner a couple times to be very smooth. I then used it for this (picture attached) window bench (the Record Player Stand next to it was built with the first one of these 2x12's I purchased at Home Depot - they really are exceptional.
The remainder of this 2x12 was used for the bottom of this bowl I am turning - the upper portion of the bowl is made from a 200 year door frame.
