This product is light weight and soft. It is kiln dried and works well and is easy to paint or finish. Very light piney scent. Good nail holding capacity and does not tend to split readily. It is not treated and needs to be protected from the elements or painted. An even grained wood that tends to stay very straight. A good choice for a wide variety of building projects.

I had to sort through the entire stack of 2x4s to find the 45 I needed: ones without splits, cracks, bananas, or large knots missing in the edges. The ones toward the back of the stack had a higher percentage of good pieces (probably because they had not yet been picked through), but overall I would estimate my reject rate at 40% to find 2x4s with enough integrity for my project-- 5 feeders for large sheep. Positive: great price!
