A:  Yes! Most of FL is within our recommended growing zone for the Perennial Wildflower Mix- with the exception of the very southernmost part of FL. You can see a recommended growing zone map on our website: https://www.earthsciencegrowing.com/products/wildflower-perennial-mix/

Q:Whats the best month to put these seeds out in iowa?
    by|Apr 10, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello. We recommend planting when daytime air temperatures are consistenly above 60 degrees. When temps are consistently above 60 degrees, the soil is warm enough for germination and there is no longer a danger of frost at night.

          Got some sunflowers!
Easy to use and I saw little tiny plants about 4 weeks later but that may be because I was under watering. I am a novice. The only flowers I see so far are sunflowers. Maybe that is to do with the time of year. Lots of other plants that don’t have flowers.

I have not yet seen flowers and since may take a while I am still going to rate this with five stars and quality based on the feedback from the producers and their excellent quick response to questions I had on where to plant for perennial growth and and how to harvest the seeds (not necessary). I planted near the end of April and now three weeks later seeing a lot of small plants showing up, but think it will take awhile to produce flowers. In a few months I will update review as to wether or not produce flowers.

It has been about two weeks and I think we have germination of the Earth Science Perennial Wild Flower mix starting for the last few days. It's hard to tell since we have a lot of weeds in the area that I am hoping to choke out with the wildflowers. We have only had two warm days so far with the rest cool and damp with frequent rain so that is making it tough to get new seed going. I only did a test patch since it is so early in the season but I am encouraged by the progress so far and looking forward to good growth as warmer weather starts in the next two weeks. The test patches will help me decide which Earth Science Wild Flower mix to use in different rocky or rough areas around the property.

My husband built this 2 tier raised flower bed for Mother's Day, on Mother's Day. He knew I was excited about having the Earth Science Wild Flower perennials mix planted, so he created and built the raised flower bed in an area of the yard that really needed something. Now, I just have to wait for the wildflowers to grow. Definitely not an easy task.Lol! Once the bed was built, planting the flower mix took very little time. Don't overthink planting this mix. It's a very simple task using Earth Science wildflower mix in a bag.

This wild flower mix contains 13 different perennial flower seeds! Each seed is encapsulated in a mix of fertilizer and soil enhancer. They also include a watering indicator (crystals showing indicate sufficient water) but we did not reliably see these after a couple days and keep watering depending on the soil dryness. Seeding is easy because of the encapsulation one can easily see the density of the seeds on the soil and cover them with a small amount of soil (1/8 to 1/4"). We did not have enough time to wait for germination, which could be of the order 2 to 3 weeks.

As soon as our Washington State weather forecast indicates a return to frequent rain, we will scatter the Earth Science Perennial Wildflower Mix in a special spot in our garden. It is a narrow strip near the deck that gets full sunshine, not shaded by tall evergreens. This particular mix contains fertilizer and soil improvers. It also has trademarked WaterRight Crystals indicating when to water. The 2 lb. bag covers 200 square feet.

The perennial wild flowers will come back each year. Flowers are already starting to come up and it looks like all the seeds are germinating. We had a perfect area to scatter the seeds and it is going to be beautiful once the bud out. It was very easy to get the prep work done and just spread the seeds, a little bit of raking and then let the rain and sun to all the rest. We will definitely buy this again.

EARTH SCIENCE 2 lbs. Perennial All-In-One Wild Flower Mix with Seed, Plant Food and Soil Conditioners. The mix contains 1.84% mixture of 13 different wild flower seeds. The flower mix contains only perennial varieties. The remainder of the mix, 98% is inert matter, fertilizer and polymer. I assume the polymer is used to indicate moisture in the soil. It will glow when there is sufficient moisture and stop glowing when the polymer dries out. Looking into the bag, it is difficult to see the small amount of flower seed in the mix. The inert ingredients are large in comparison. I started the seed in pots and watered daily to see how long it would take to germinate in Miracle Grow potting soil. After the 4th day small sprots were showing in the soil. There is very little seed in the mix, so it is difficult to get even distribution when using a small portion of the seed mix. The crystal moisture indicators are not obvious.

I’m excited to see wildflowers in my yard! Earth Science has created a perennial mix of flower seeds with mulch, plant food, and conditioners. Some of the flowers listed are my favs like Coneflower, Black-eyed Susan, and Columbine as well as others. It’s an all in one formula that comes with clear directions on how to succeed with sowing the seeds from location, temperature, soil condition, and application to watering. I like that the product is 100% guaranteed. We have the perfect spot in our yard and we look forward to seeing wildflowers in the coming weeks, and since they’re perennials in the years to come.
