Why the name 20 Mule Team. Teams of mules were used to move millions of pounds of Borax from remote mines in inaccessible Death Valley to the railroad at Mojave. Originally, teams of eight and 10 mules were used, but the trek proved too much. A man named Ed Stiles came up with the idea of hitching two 10-mule teams together--twice the normal amount--resulting in a 100-foot-long team that took 10 days to carry 10 tons of borax one way across the desert. In 1894, a steam engine named "Dinah" was brought in to replace the mules, but Dinah was no match for the epic 20 Mule Team's power. She broke down and was towed back to town by the very mules she tried to replace. The power or Borax works just as hard as the heritage of its mule team, cleaning deep to tackle your toughest mess.

Q:Can borax be used as a hand soap?

A:  Since the box says it can be used to clean anything and everything, I would guess the answer would be yes. I would just make sure you rinse well as it's dangerous for your eyes or if ingested. You can try it and see but I think there are better alternatives to cleaning hands like comet or go joe.

    A:  I don't know, But i would not use it to wash your hands if i is meant to wash your clothes.

      Clean Your Kitchen with This 20 Mule Train wif mules rite on the label!!
      Thisstuff is wonderfull. It clean, it scour, it remove, it conjugate. It due it all! Heck I even gargle with it. I previously use 19 Mule Train an it not nearly as good. This 20 Mule Train--thatsez it all!!!!

      Good stuff, great price. Unbelievable uses. A little pile of it on an outdoor window sill will get rid of ants as they try to infiltrate a house. They bring it back to their "home" and WHAM, they are all ushered out. A little 20 Mule Team left on sill is soap for occasional cleaning of same.
