Questions & Answers

My fan is making a load sqeel sound when running. it sounds like it needs oil. any thoughts?

Asked by: handy
I've had 2 of these fans. Neither one of them lasted more than 3 months. First I notice that high actually runs like low. Then the dreaded squealing. It happened in the middle of the night and woke the whole house. When I tried to turn it back on later in the day it was completely dead. I traded it for a new one under manufacturers warranty. But no warranty on the replacement. I thought it was just a bad fan and didn't care about the warranty. Last night the 2nd one crapped out, same as the first. It lasted 2 months and 3 weeks. I would bet money it's bad bearings. I love the power and the noise. I sleep like a baby. But I can't afford to pay $45 every couple of months to replace them. Every retail store that sells fans has the same identical one with many different brand names but they are all manufactured in the same factory.

The Back of my fan gets extremely hot is this normal??

Asked by: overheated
Same here x 2 and they both died within 3 months. I was shocked at how hot it was. That can't be good for it. It might even be dangerous.

Can it be used without an air conditioner to get the same results e.g. a cooler impact

I live in a 4 bedroom apartment, and have laminate hardwood flooring would this fan compliment my floors, also I cant afford another air conditioner the one before didn't seem to work, and I never felt it getting cold I only had one AC in the living room and people told me i needed several. Doors in bedrooms an hallway removed to keep air from escaping. I want to use this fan while I'm watching TV or either sleeping will this do the job not sure if I'm making any sense?
Asked by: Willis
Yes, if your humidity is low.

Should I point the face of the fan to the outside of the window to get the best result ? Thx

Asked by: Hl
I do. This pulls air OUT of the whole house through the room with the window (if other house windows are also open, AND room door also open). But, that one "venting" room may get warm! so choose your windows wisely. If you primarily want to cool one room, point the air movement INTO the room, through the window. You need to open a window in another room of the house for this to work effectively, and also have the room door open.
