Can anyone tell me how could I go about calculating weight? I need to build a workbench top but it can't be over 400lb. How heavy would 1 square foot be if is .75 inches thick at most. Probably half an inch at the end.

Honestly, I doubt seriously that wood found under a mattress is oak, but rather..... a middle grade of pine with very small knots

I bought this 3 times. The first one the qualify is very good. So I placed a 2nd order 6 months later. One of the 2 in this order was badly damaged. It looked like some heavy object fell on it. I have to return it and immediately ordered the 3rd. This time it was a bit better there are still damages at the ends and some at the sides. I wish Home Depot has a better quality control. I don’t think Home Depot sells inferior products intentionally

get in store if you have a chance
I needed effectively 5 boards and ended up getting two 4-packs. Shipment to the store took a bit over a week, as estimated. Not the fastest, but on time. The quality is generally okay, but I wouldn’t have picked 2-3 boards for apparent damage. The picture ahows one board that’s simply unacceptable, but that’s the side effect of ordering online. Whoever pack this up does not care if the boards are pristine or even acceptable

The wood arrived in good condition. It was well packed. All the wood, except for 1 or 2 inches at the end of 1 board was usable. It was square and nicely finshed - ready for stain! I was very happy with the wood.

All six boards were either straight or had an allowable crown. There was only one board, with a rough area that had been cut close to a knot that measured about 6" in length on the end of the board. I used these to rebuild a cast iron framed park bench, along with Rust-oleum glossy black paint, Minwax Red Oak stain, Varathane exterior finish. I used a 3/8" quarter round router bit to round the edges. A total cost, not including tools because I already had them, of $160 vs over $400 for a new one.
