What is the usable capacity for this washer?
ByJan 18, 2026

Answer This Question

Hi Megan, great question about the WT7400CV. We understand you want to know the usable capacity so you can gauge real‑world load size. This washer provides a full usable capacity of 5.5 cu. ft., meaning you can wash large comforters, bedding sets, and big weekly loads comfortably. A quick way to maximize that space is to load items loosely so the impeller can move everything efficiently. You can review the model details here: https://www.lg.com/us/washers-dryers/lg-wt7400cv-top-load-washer If you’d like help matching it with the right dryer or checking load recommendations, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

What is the dimension/distance from the back of the washer to the lid when lid is open?

    Answer This Question

We have had our washer for a few years and we do use the descaler cleaning tablets monthly , sometimes 2x a month. We still have that smell coming from the bottom of the washing tub. I don’t see a filter anywhere to clean. Is there one?

    Answer This Question

Hello, thank you for reaching out. The LG WT7400CV 5.5 cu. ft. Mega Capacity Top Load Washer with Impeller does not have a removable filter that you can access and clean manually. Unlike some front load models that include a drain pump filter, this top load washer relies on self-cleaning filters built into the pump system. To help with odors: • Run the Tub Clean cycle regularly (especially if you notice smells). • Leave the lid open after washes to allow the tub to dry out. • Continue using descaler or cleaning tablets as recommended. • Check and clean the inlet hose filters periodically, as buildup there can affect performance. Here’s a helpful LG USA support article with step-by-step instructions: https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-washer-how-to-clean-the-tub-of-your-lg-washing-machine--20150635948425 For any further assistance, feel free to DM us at @LGUSSupport. When can I buy this washer machine?

Why is cycle time changed automatically from 59 min to 39 min during operation?
      ByNov 15, 2025
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

At what point during the wash cycle does the cycle time on the ENERGY STAR® Certified LG 5.5 cu. Ft. Mega Capacity Top Load Washer with Impeller - Graphite Steel, Model # WT7400CV change? Each cycle has default settings that are selected automatically, but you may also customize these settings using the cycle modifier buttons. When a cycle is selected, the default time for that cycle is displayed. This time will change as modifiers or options are selected. If the display shows ---, then the time will be displayed after the load sensing has detected the load size. The time shown is only an estimate. This time is based on normal operating conditions. Several external factors (load size, room temperature, incoming water temperature, etc.) can affect the actual time. Once the Start/Pause button is pressed, the washer will measure the size of the load. The estimated time may change once the load size has been measured...^Ivan.

Page 21 of the owner's manual for the WT7400CW, along with a few other models, states that some models have an Automatic Bleach Dispenser and some models have an Immediate Bleach Dispenser, but I cannot find which of the two the WT7400CW uses.

        Answer This Question

As mentioned in the descriptions of the Automatic Bleach Dispenser and Immediate Bleach Dispenser on page 21 in the owner's manual for the ENERGY STAR Certified LG 5.5 cu. ft. Mega Capacity Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Top Load Washer with Impeller & TurboWash3D™ Technology, Model # WT7400CW, that you are referring to, the last bullet in the description for the Immediate Bleach Dispenser states, "The dispenser cover cannot be removed. To clean the cover, wipe it with a damp paper towel", and that is how you know which bleach dispenser you have. The Automatic Bleach Dispenser does not have a dispenser cover...^Ivan.

Works well but foul tub drain issues
The washing functionality works well but after 27 months of ownership we started getting foul orders coming from the tub. This is a top loader! We always left lid and dispenser opened when not in use. We did all the recommended Tub Cleaning cycles but would only remedy the situation for a couple of days. Then the garment staining started, ruined multiple articles. Now have read enough reviews to know it is a common problem with this model. Would not recommend this one.

            Bad experience
I bought this washing machine from LG only about 2 years ago, and now I already have to replace it with a different brand. Honestly, I have completely lost trust in LG after this experience. The machine suddenly stopped draining water during the wash cycle, leaving all the water stuck inside. This is such a basic function of a washing machine, and for it to fail like this after such a short time is unacceptable and very frustrating. A washing machine should be reliable and last for many years, not break down with such a simple and critical issue. This is a careless and unacceptable defect. I strongly do NOT recommend buying this product. Save your money and choose a more reliable brand.

              Ruins Clothes
It was great until it started staining all our clothes. We keep it clean and run the tub clean cycle but all our clothes have little oil spots.

DEFECTIVE HINGES CAUSE LID TO CRACK
Avoid Purchase. Super expensive Junk. Lid cracks and LG will not stand behind defective self closing spring that binds that causes lid to crack at hinge. See link. https://www.reddit.com/r/Appliances/comments/s4pd78/lg_washer_lid_keeps_cracking_replaced_twice/#:~:text=These%20exert%20torque%20on%20the,and%20causing%20it%20to%20crack.

                  Always a problem
I thought I was going to love it because I went from a washer without and agitator to one with, but I’ve had so many problems. My sheets got stuck under the agitator resulting in my sheets ripping within a couple of months of having it. I constantly have OE displayed. When I check, it’s the water that won’t drain. The spin and drain don’t work So I have to manually drain it. I’ve had it for less than 2 years. The previous washer, I had for 6 years no problem, just wanted to try the agitator ones. I would really like to see if I’m able to replace it.

                    Leaking parts
This machine developed a leak from within the front left just shy the 1 year warranty. Hopefully, it is not a lemon part, but being Ott is discontinued I am not going to be surprised if it isn't.

                        Washer smells bad!
Owned this washer for almost 1 year - Purchased in Jan 2024. Works good but the swamp odor smell of the plastic parts on the impeller and the plastic tub is unbearable. Ran the tub clean cycle, took impeller out and cleaned with vinegar and baking soda, let impeller outside in the sun but smell returns repeatedly. Customer service is poor and hard to understand (from overseas).

                            Not Great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this washer in January of 2024. It broke down December 2024. Not sure what broker in it but when it was spinning, it was obnoxiously loud. The LG rep that fixed my washer said it was a common issue with these. I would stay away from this one.
