Product Overview

Our humidifiers work by adding invisible moisture to your environment by moving dry air through a saturated wick. Maintaining proper humidity levels between 30-50% in your home/office/workplace has been scientifically proven to help prevent the flu and allergies. Proper humidity hydrates your skin, alleviates dry eyes, scratchy throats and can reduce snoring. With a doctor's approval increased humidity can reduce asthma and allergy symptoms. It also protects fine furniture, musical instruments, collectibles and wood floors. Proper humidity makes you feel warmer allowing you to lower your thermostat setting which will save money.

Why does the 6 gallon model only cover 2700 square feet, but this 3.6 gallon model claims to cover 3,600 s.f?

Answer

If you're referring to the Aircare model 836000HB which is 6 gallons it appears to be a smaller unit and also has a lower daily output. I have never owned that 6-gallon model but the volume of water of the tank would not be the determining factor in how large of an area it covers. This 3.6 gallon model has a strong fan and disperses the humidity forcefully when set on the high settings. That 6 gallon model disperses 7.2 gallons of water into the air daily whereas this model disperses up to 11.44 gallons daily. I suspect the strength of the fan is the determining factor. Hope this helps.

Just bought this humidifier and fan only works on F1. On all other settings fan does not move.

There are other variables to consider such as how well insulated your house is, what types of windows, the relative humidity outdoors, etc. This humidifier can be set to maintain whatever humidity level is comfortable for you. I keep mine set at 35% or 40% and that is very comfortable. It also prevents the furnace from running so much as dry air cannot hold heat as well as moist air. It is usually recommended to maintain 30%-45% indoor humidity during cold weather. If you exceed 45%-50% indoors it can promote mold growth.

where is the intake of the air and when is it expelled?

Hello even though it states to cover 3600sqft it barely maintains proper humidity levels even for 1500sqft when heat is turned on in winter, unless you run it in at high fan speed. At high fan speed its way too loud and you have to fill water tank atleast twice a day. And talking filters unless you use bottled water you should be prepared to replace it every month that too they only last a month if you clean the filter atleast once a week or 10days. And this is the case with most humidifiers with wicks. If you can get a humidifier attached to HVAC go for it..... it might be costly but you will be happy you made that choice that's what am planning on doing for next winter tried and tired of standalone humidifiers.

brand new, 2 week use and the filter is brown and needs to be refilled every night, is this normal? 1200 sq ft apartment

After reading reviews I thought this was the humidifier for us, I was wrong. Don't get me wrong it does a good job of adding moister to the air but it is noisy! Even of the lowest fan setting it is pretty loud. I guess if you could put it in a room that isn't used much the noise would be acceptable. I was also expecting the unit to be a little more well made, the filter just wraps around a cylinder part inside and has a gap that I had to stitch together. Also the unit and tank just sit on the base with nothing to latch them down, A child or dog could knock it over easily.

Hello, JB! Thr MA1201 is a big unit, and it's meant to humidify big spaces (which it sounds like it's doing for you) so, yes, it will make a little more noise on the higher fan speeds because it is working hard to churn out moisture. If the sound is bothersome to you (most of our customers liken it to a box fan), then you might try running it on high when you're away from home and turning it down when you're at home. -Melissa, AIRCARE

We have a 2200 square ft house and basement. This humidifier does a great job in humidifing the whole house even when temperatures were below zero degrees outside. It's easy to fill with the removable tank. I like the auto fan speed setting that adjust the 4 speeds according to the deviation from setpoint.

What a difference! Tried the Aprilaire 600 for the HVAC system. Didn't like it one bit, couldn't get the humidity above the mid to high 20's. This unit I could get it as high as I like even the 40% range. (Not when the tempreture is below freezing outside) Very Happy, made a big difference with my dry skin issues. Merry Christmas Everybody

I ordered this unit along with a spare wick and bottle of humidifier bacteriostatic treatment. The unit performs well. Just set it on auto and the humidity level you want and it operates on it's own. Refilling the water tank is easy at the faucet. We use RO water. When the unit said to replace the wick, I just flipped it over and it continued to work ok. I think they should carry this unit in the store. I have previously used ultrasonic units and belt driven units and this humidifier is much better. I have had the unit for 3 1/2 months. At night, in our bed room, we use one of the small 1/2 gallon cool mist humidifiers, which is easy to refill. This bigger unit takes care of the kitchen, living room and hallway.

I'm very pleased with this humidifier. It lives up to all claims in the description, and is better than I expected. Obviously, it holds a lot of water, so it will run a while without re-fill. The "Auto" setting works wonderfully - the humidistat controls the fan, and the whole unit works exactly as want it to all by itself - All I have to do is put water in it. A great product for the price!!!

The wicks (also called filters) are substandard and quickly dry out at the top half. The only way to use this is to open up the humidifier every 12 hours and fully soak the wick in water and replace it. The top 1/3 will still dry out in only 3-4 hours (see photo). The company will stall you forever rather than simply replace the $16 wick, my guess is that they had a big production run from China that they're trying to get rid of. They also have a host of excuses ranging from "if you treat your water that invalidates the warranty" to "we suggest you use distilled water". The other excuse is to only use the lowest fan setting (still didn't fix the problem). I have a brand new unit and am getting nowhere after a week on the phone with these people. I think this would be a good humidifier if it had a decent wick. After a week on the phone, they still wouldn't send me a new $16 wick (each day there's a new hoop to jump through, after talking with two customer service people and then the customer service manager they said to call back and talk to the engineers for approval!. The irony is that I am a Mechanical Engineer myself and I kept asking to speak with their technical department and they kept saying they were out of the office. For three days they said to call back the next day and speak with their tech guys and somehow they're never there! Meanwhile, you would think that after giving me the run-around for a week they'd just hand over a wick out of, you know, "customer service"...instead they kept getting ruder. This is why I suspect they had a bad production run of wicks, they know that a replacement wick isn't going to change things. I have to say, I'm really astonished at their behavior. Btw, Carla was the customer service rep who kept giving me the runaround, Tina was the "manager" who clearly wrote all of a Carla's scripts. The two just kept interrupting me and repeating the same comments, irrespective of whatever I tried to say to them. Not fun....avoid this product until it's working again (!)

Glad I purchased it!!!!!
I was hesitant to order online since I am a "see it in person" person. After reading all the good reviews I decided to order. I'm glad I did. The item was delivered as scheduled and as soon as I received it, I opened it. The assembly instructions were very easy to follow. I immediately put it into service. The bottle is easy to refill and also easy to replace on the unit. It is very quiet and easy to program.

Performs as Expected
The MA 1201 was purchased to treat a 2400 square foot two level home with 900 square feet located on the lower level. I installed the Essick MA 1201 on the lower level next to an air duct return. I can’t think of anything negative to say about the performance. I have checked the humidity level on both floors with a stand alone hygrometer and it always reads 2% to 3% of the setting on the MA 1201 which is 35%. When initially installed I ran the heating system fan continuously for a short time until the humidity was consistent through the house. Fill times have ranged from 2 days to almost a week. This is generally due to the setting and the outside temperature. With really cold weather filling will be required more frequently along with the possibility of having to move the humidity setting to a higher level. I have no complaints – the Essick MA 1201 has done what I expected.

This product performs magnificently!
Immediately, I was amazed on the sleek design of this evaporative humidifier. The bottle was so easy to fill by faucet, very light weight, and was placed back into the base effortlessly. The 4-speed fan is extremely quiet, and I love the auto humidistat feature, which only runs to reach the desired humidity level. I am very impressed with its performance and highly recommend this product!!!

Good product that does the job.
Simple to fill the tank. Simple to replace the filter. Simple to clean. First fill of the tank drains into the pan. Then you refill the tank and put that into place. As the water in the bottom pan evaporates, it is replaced by the water in the tank... a nice system that gives you two tanks of water for the humidifier. I usually refill the tank once per day. Has four fans settings. Settings 1 and 2 are fine for running without disturbing your peace and quiet. Settings 3 and 4 are pretty loud, but I do use them when I want to get the humidity to a set level fast. I'm able to get the humidity in our 2200 sq ft house with loft to a comfortable level and keep it there. Before the humidifier, our house was static electricity city with all inhabitants having the cracked dry skin to match. That's no longer a problem, and that's what I wanted the humidifier to do.
