My house is a little bit over 3,250 sq. ft., is there any recommendation in regards location of the humidifier to make sure it covers the whole house?
Asked by: zdesiree
Hello even though it states to cover 3600sqft it barely maintains proper humidity levels even for 1500sqft when heat is turned on in winter, unless you run it in at high fan speed. At high fan speed its way too loud and you have to fill water tank atleast twice a day. And talking filters unless you use bottled water you should be prepared to replace it every month that too they only last a month if you clean the filter atleast once a week or 10days. And this is the case with most humidifiers with wicks. If you can get a humidifier attached to HVAC go for it..... it might be costly but you will be happy you made that choice that's what am planning on doing for next winter tried and tired of standalone humidifiers.

3.6-Gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 3,600 sq. ft. is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 309.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs as Expected The MA 1201 was purchased to treat a 2400 square foot two level home with 900 square feet located on the lower level. I installed the Essick MA 1201 on the lower level next to an air duct return. I can’t think of anything negative to say about the performance. I have checked the humidity level on both floors with a stand alone hygrometer and it always reads 2% to 3% of the setting on the MA 1201 which is 35%. When initially installed I ran the heating system fan continuously for a short time until the humidity was consistent through the house. Fill times have ranged from 2 days to almost a week. This is generally due to the setting and the outside temperature. With really cold weather filling will be required more frequently along with the possibility of having to move the humidity setting to a higher level. I have no complaints – the Essick MA 1201 has done what I expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product that does the job. Simple to fill the tank. Simple to replace the filter. Simple to clean. First fill of the tank drains into the pan. Then you refill the tank and put that into place. As the water in the bottom pan evaporates, it is replaced by the water in the tank... a nice system that gives you two tanks of water for the humidifier. I usually refill the tank once per day. Has four fans settings. Settings 1 and 2 are fine for running without disturbing your peace and quiet. Settings 3 and 4 are pretty loud, but I do use them when I want to get the humidity to a set level fast. I'm able to get the humidity in our 2200 sq ft house with loft to a comfortable level and keep it there. Before the humidifier, our house was static electricity city with all inhabitants having the cracked dry skin to match. That's no longer a problem, and that's what I wanted the humidifier to do.

Use it in 600 sq ft studio. We have a newborn baby so there was a need of one of this. Sometimes it has issues with sensor to recognize correct humidity in the room (there are F1, F2, F3, F4 and A speed mode). Filter placement inside is not secure. Filter last for 2 month. Very easy to fill water. When you sleep it's affordably quiet but need to get used to. When it adds water from container to the tray it makes noise due to air bubbles. In general it's a must have unit if you need to breath. There is also time when unit runs non stop on F2 or F3 and humidity in the room doesn't change but can be due to apartment airflow. We close air duct to increase humidity in the apartment. It doesn't have a remote, could be a good ad on.We refill container 2 times every 24 hours. In general this winter season is much breathable comparing to a last year when humidity level was on 20 or below. Get this if you want to breath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Awesome I rank the purchase of this humidifier in the top 5 electronic purchases I have ever made. Every review I read was excellent on it. So, I decided to purchase it. Pros: - Very simple machine. Basically 3 removable parts: housing, water tank, and filter. Everything is easy to get to for cleaning purposes. - On low it runs extremely quite. Also, has high output on low setting. (High puts off a little less sound than a small window A/C unit). - My home is roughly 3000sq ft. The humidity level went from 31% to 50% in a little over 2 hrs on high. Needless to say, we felt the results of the machine in about an hour. - Unit is very compact (unlike the bulkier whole home humidifiers). Cons: - Trust me, I am a stickler for weighing pro's and con's on everything I purchase. It took me 1 month of online research before I decided to purchase this unit. However, I have no complaints. So, in spirit of being non-bias - I will have to say that my con would be, I wish the product cost was lower. I am super frugal! (Paid $109.00 Home Depot) Note: I have gone as far as to write a review twice in my life. Shop internet at least 5x per month.

Less dust on the furniture and we seem to be able to breathe a lot better (probably because of the less dust). I would absolutely recommend this product. It might cost a little more but the coverage and ease of filling the water makes it a really great deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product We live in the high desert of Wyoming and have very low humidity. Our house is 3,800 sq. ft. (upper level and finished basement) and has a closed boiler system. I bought this unit based on reviews here to replace a smaller unit that quit working and don't know when I've been so happy with a product. We've had the unit a couple of months. It is very easy to fill by laying horizontally on the center divider in the kitchen sink and swinging the spout over the opening. The tank's carry handle makes it easy to transport to the unit. We ran the unit on high when we first got it to get the humidity up. Now, I refill twice per day and the unit keeps the humidity at 35-40% on the low setting which is very quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last long. There don't seem to be a lot of options when buying a large humidifier. Based on reviews, I bought this one. It had (note past tense) the following qualities: Lowest fan speed was bearable, can't imagine using the higher two because of the roaring noise. Quite ugly and flimsy, but easy to set up. Held enough water for a couple of days (bedroom with forced hot air is very dry) when tank was used to fill it twice as directed. During it's second winter, its electronics failed. The LED panel flashed a couple of times before blanking out. According to the website, warranty periods have expired. I guess I am not supposed to say what competitor's model I formerly owned (begins with "K"). That one spoiled me by running for 10 years until major pieces started to fall off. Think I will get another of those if available... To sum up, worked OK until its premature death.

Operation is easy, it seems to be well made, is very quiet, etc. But as to effectiveness, I'm less than thrilled. I bought this unit about a month ago because it had the highest rated "coverage", in terms of square footage--about 3600 sq ft. I'm using it in a house that's about 2,000 sq ft. (one level) for the purpose of keeping the humidity in the 35--55% range, per the recommendation of the company that installed my hardwood floors. But on the coldest days of winter--about 15 degrees here in KY (which, admittedly, are the driest)--I'm still only getting humidity of around 30%, give or take a bit. I was assuming this unit would more than meet the need, given the specs. But even at max output, I'm hardly keeping up. On more mild day, yes--it's staying within range. But when it's dead cold outside, I'm still struggling to get into the zone with this product. No other complaint, but the object of the exercise was to humidify effectively for this space, and it's falling short of my needs.
