About This Product

The AMDRO Fire Ant Killer Bait kills the queen fast and destroys the fire ant mound. Once you distribute a circle of fire ant bait around the mound, it's only a matter of time before the worker fire ants share it with the queen. After the queen eats it and dies, her colony dies with her. The ant granules are designed for individual mound treatment but can also be used for broadcast application in outdoor areas, for total ant control.

A:  NO. This is a perimeter bait. Avoid corrals or animal holding areas, avoid the exposure of animals to this product.

A:  I would reccomend putting out Amdro Ant Grandules when Chickens and Goats are locked up. I use Amdro in the evening after my animals are secured in their housing. By morning the grandules are gone. This safely works for me. Thank you Home Depot.

Q:Do you just sprinkle the mounds & around them with the granules or do you have to add water after applying the granules?

          Answer This Question

A:  You sprinkle just a few granules over the nest. As much as you might want to drown the little monsters in it if you've ever been bitten, use just a few. They take it immediately. Keep checking for any new nests both big & small. The container has a shaker top on it.

          A:  Yes.

          by|Mar 18, 2021

A:  Just sprinkle on and around the mound.

          by|Apr 22, 2021

A:  Do not add water. Do not apply ON the mound, sprinkle it AROUND the mound. If you disturb a fire ant mound, they will move before taking the bait & you will end up chasing their new mound(s). If possible, apply in the morning when they are out foraging; that way they will have all day to take the bait. This stuff works like a charm if you just use it correctly. I have tried other things & they suck. This is the only product I have found that consistently works & kills the mound. I won't buy anything else.

A:  You do not have to use water, just sprinkle and wait a day or two for nest to die

              by|May 17, 2021

A:  Hi KOH, Please be sure to read the directions on the label in its entirety before using the product. The directions state to apply on and around the mound and water is not needed at all with our Amdro Fire Ant Bait. Thank you.

              by|Sep 30, 2020

A:  No, Never add water. Apply on and around the mound only during dry conditions

                by|Sep 30, 2020

A:  Not on the mound, but around outside the mound. Don't add water

A:  You sprinkle around the mound. This is a bait. It should be applied when dry and do not add water. You want the ants to eat it. Do not disturb the mound. Put out when ants are active.

                  A:  Yes

                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  Hi Pako, Amdro Fire Ant Bait can be applied around gardens or wells. It cannot be applied in vegetables gardens though but can be applied around the perimeter. The bait can be applied in ornamental gardens. In regards to wells, you should keep any product from getting into the well. We appreciate your business - thank you

                          Does not work
Applied product liberally to mound and to a long trail of ants proceeding from that mound. 24 hrs later, no change at all (except ants walking around Amdro granules). Applied Spectricide Fire Ant Mount Destroyer -- mound dead within 30 minutes. Bottle says "Guaranteed to work or your money back" but there is no method to redeem this guarantee. Hollow marketing ploy.

This worked on a very large ant colony in two days. I shook pellets around hole and down the trail.
