AnswersCrank the handle until the canopy is fully open and then keep cranking until it can't be cranked any further and the canopy will tilt.

AnswerOur patio table is approx. 27 inches and the lower position of the crank would be approx 32 inches. It seems optimal in that lower would be more difficult when sitting and cranking and higher would be harder to duck under the ribs when lowering them especially when standing.. It's designed about right. The tilt mechanism is stiff and needs a little silicon or other lubricant to make it move more easily.

AnswersI bought a 30 lb base with mine. It still blows over easily....In winds over 15mph. Not sure about wind strength. I ended up tying it to my deck rail.

beautiful and well made umbrella
This is a beautiful and well made umbrella. The color is a vibrant turquoise that matches my patio set perfectly. I Was surprised at how pretty and sturdy it was for the great price. The umbrella has a crank action handle that raises and closes the umbrella. If you continue to turn the handle after it is fully raised, the tilting action begins and you can tilt the umbrella. This is a nice feature because you don't have to push any buttons to tilt it! This helps it tilt gradually and as much or as little as you want. My past experience in dealing with push-button tilting umbrellas is it never seems to work right. Either it tilts too much or you pinch your fingers trying to tilt it. This umbrella came with a single piece of Velcro to wrap around the umbrella pole so it doesn't tilt in the umbrella stand. So brilliant! It worked perfectly and does not tilt at all!

I was looking for a replacement for an umbrella that was damaged in a storm. This umbrella is decent but not as good as the old one from Costco. The umbrella canopy material is thin and attached to the pole with grommets and screws on the top side. The pictures do no show this kind of attachment. Very deceptive. I have never seen this kind of attachment before. Buyer beware. I removed the canopy and replaced with my old sunbrella canopy. It was hard to put on but I managed after some elbow grease. There are a lot of plastic parts on the pole so we will see how it holds up. I am not very confident. I kept the umbrella because I had a good replacement canopy and the pole is decent. Because of the deceptive advertising on the umbrella canopy, I do not recommend.

I LOVE this umbrella!! The price was right and the quality is great. Last year I made the mistake of purchasing an umbrella without a crank opening/closing device and it as extremely difficult to open and close. The Abba Patio Market Umbrella crank operating mechanism makes it very easy to open, close or partially open. At the time ordered only the lime green color was available so I was a little concerned how it would look, however, I LOVE the color!! I would recommend this umbrella to family or friends looking to purchase one. I decided to have the table and umbrella closer to the house so wind would not be a factor as it's usually windy here. It shades my living room slider so it's nice to be able to have the blinds open to see outside as this patio gets full afternoon sun.
