Fairly accurate, cheap and straightforward rain gauge for the money. You have to be fairly close to read it and it measures by the 10th of an inch which is standard. It is a tube, so it has a 'miniscus'; you measure the bottom. It is easy to mount on a fence, rail or on a stake which is what I did. The glass tube sits in a malleable metal bracket that is easy to work. I see several one-star review here saying the glass will break in the cold and, yes, it will. However, this is a very cheap rain gauge and the package also warns of this so I will not make a big fuss of it in my review. You get what you pay for and the warning is there. This rain gauge is made in China.

glass tube shattered
I'll never know if this rain guage is good. I dropped it when trying to install it on my deck and the thin glass tube shattered. So if you are a butterfingers like me get a plastic one instead LOL!

Gainesville Florida winter weather: cold front; rain; overnight hard freeze. The rain in the overly fragile glass cylinder froze and shattered the gauge before I got a chance to read it. This product is clearly not suitable for outdoor use in our climate.

Pour Out Water If It’s Going To Freeze
Rained 2 inches, then got down to 25F A day later. I forgot to empty them. However, I would’ve thought the water would have simply expanded upwards towards the open end. I’m presuming when it turned to ice, that is what broke the glass. I may take advantage of the one-year warranty, but they are so inexpensive.
