24.6 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator with Dual Pad External Ice and Water Dispenser in Stainless Steel

Great fridge, but too few shelves. Also ice dispenser has tendency to spread ice all over the floor

Less than six months later the freezer bulb stopped working and there are rust spots on the left door below the water and ice dispenser. I used CLR Stainless Steel Cleaner to no avail. Amana is standing behind the one year warranty, but it will take several weeks or months before the door replacement or the lightbulb are available. This is the first time I bought an Amana refrigerator, my old 25 years Maytag fridge compressor failed and at the time Amana was the only known brand available for rush delivery, all other brands would have taken several months to be delivered. I am very disappointed with the purchase of this refrigerator.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Pros: The space in the fridge is above average—better than our last. The design is sleek and modern. We love the bright lights inside the fridge and freezer. We appreciate that the ice and water come out of different spaces. Cons: You have to physically turn on the light for the water dispenser area (instead of it automatically coming on when it dispenses ice or water). We haven’t quite figured out the water filter situation. It has one but it’s not the typical equipment you’d see in a GE or Whirlpool model. The stainless steel is difficult to clean. We had to find the right product to remove streaks and smudges. The stainless steel is very hard to clean. We had to find the right stainless steel specific cleaning product to get rid of streaks and smudges.

I have a galley kitchen, so the smaller doors of a side-by-side work better than a french door or top freezer refrigerator. The stainless front compliments my other appliances. The ice-maker rapidly makes a lot of ice. The on-door dispenser is convenient. The lighting is fantastic.

The separate water and ice is really good for her. She doesn’t have to press any buttons to get the ice or the water. The milk in the door is also a great feature.

The ice maker is super fast it only takes about 15 to 20 minutes it only makes a glass full at a time but it’s more than enough for any house hold. For the price and quality it can’t be beat. I would recommend this to anyone.
