Product Overview

  • Compatible with most American Standard whirlpool bathtubs
  • Includes smart high-limit so safety circuit won't "false trip"
  • Keeps water warmer for longer
The American standard safe-T heater is designed to work with most American standard whirlpool tubs. The heater helps maintain a consistent temperature in the tub, allowing for a long, relaxing soak. Limited 1-year warranty.
  • Most american standard whirlpool tubs are pre-plumbed at the factory making them ready to accept the heater (check your model for compatibility)
  • Helps maintain a consistent water temperature for a longer soak
  • Equipped with a pre-set pressure switch so the pump must be running with water flowing in the whirlpool to allow the heater to turn on
  • Includes an intelligent high-limit so that the safety circuit will not "false trip" from hot tap water; it will only turn the heater off if the thermostat fails
  • A separate 120-Volt AC/15 Amp dedicated circuit with GFCI protection must be installed for this heater

Can I plug this Safe-T Heater into a dedicated 20amp circuit and 20 amp GFCI recepticle instead of a 15amp? I will be installing 2 individually dedicated outlets in my bathroom for this tub. One for the pump at 20 amps and a second for the heater. It would be easier and the same cost if I ran both at 20 amps on 12/2 romex. And I figure if these devices were ever to get switched when plugging them in, it wouldn't matter since they were both 20 amp GFCI.

Can this be used in a baptismal pool?

I need a baptismal heater for church pool.
Asked by: Mary
I don't see why not. However this unit is very low power and was meant to keep the water warm that was already heated. Single person tubs are typically 50 to 80 gallons which is smaller than baptismal pools I've seen. Also remember that this works within the recirculating jet plumbing. It has no way to push water or create pressure. Depending on the size of your pool, you may want to consider options.

Can this work (or is there any downside--or upside?) when installed where a tanklless water heater is used?
Asked by: JG
You are to fill the tub with hot water. This heater keeps the water hot while you are bathing. It should be wired such that it is only on when you are actually using the tub vs having a switch that could accidentally left on.

8 in. x 5 in. Safe-T Heater is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a Great Job Maintining the Temperature of the Water in the Tub We recently purchased an American Standard EverClean 6 ft. Whirlpool Tub in White. We additionally purchased the American Standard Safe-T Heater and had our plumber also install a "MIXING VALVE" to our water heater to make sure we have plenty of hot water (This made a HUGE difference, we now have enough hot water to fill the entire tub, with hot water to spare). The install is complete (the tub sets in a beautiful tile box/tub surround) and this outstanding tub and Safe T Heater works exactly as advertised. the American Standard Safe-T Heater MAINTAINS the EXISTING temperature of the water in the tub throughout the entire time of the bath for as long as you want (*Note: We had our plumber add battens of insulation in the tub surround box cavity to make sure the tub was well insulated so that the hot water in the tub stayed hot longer). This tub heater is an exceptional value and worth every penny. Just be sure to follow the additional installation steps (Mixing valve, and the added insulation in the tub surround box cavity) and your set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeping it Hot I added this to my 6' extra long tub and it was worth the investment. It was very easy to install in the tub and had no leaks. After filling the tub with warm water, it would keep it hot as long as I was running the jets. Kept me from having to keep adding warm water. Be sure to run a SEPARATE circuit for this heater - separate from from the spa pump. I believe it has to be GCI as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the dough As others have, I would recommend this heater, at least if you live where you'll want warm water in your whirlpool. Also as has been mentioned, it's a good idea to install it prior to setting the tub. On the model I purchased, there is a side access panel that would allow it to be installed anytime, but removing the bypass tube and getting this in place was just easier when I could get to it from the back. Finally, there were questions about its ability to maintain temperature. It does fine; in fact, my wife draws her bath with water a bit cooler than she normally would, and it will slowly come up to temperature while the tub is operating. She actually doesn't need it as hot as it stays if starting out very warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HOT HOT HOT besides maintaining a hot temperature, this little heater will heat the water in the tub even from cold ,so no need to be constantly adding hot water to the bath, we had a plumber install the heater so don't really know how easy installation is but it did not take him very long
