    Andrea0128, The drain will work but you need to make sure that at the end of the drain model number the last 3 digits are .011 for Arctic White to match the tub. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

    my over flow drain is just under 16" so a standard 12"-15" tub assembly kit will not work (ive tried). will this one work?

    How can you charge so much for something entirely made of plastic? The drain for our evolution tub is much better quality for about the same price.

    American Standard does not set the price for the drain assemblies.

    We put this unit into our new bathtub about three months ago and already we are experiencing drain problems. I cannot find a hair-trapping cover that fits over this unit. Suggestions?

    American Standard does not produce a screen to cover the toe tapper. To clean, remove the cap by turning counter-clockwise then back out the brass screw. The mechanism then can be removed to clean out any hair caught on the cross member.

    will this drain replace the 1583.470 for use in my whirlpool tub?

    No, the 1583.470 model and the 1640 are not compatible or interchangeable.

    are the satin nickel components of the deep soak drain #1640.305.295 made of actual metal or are they plastic parts manufactured to look like a satin nickel finish?

    For the love of me, I cannot get the overflow cover to snap onto the fitting. Even tried a rubber hammer. Any suggestions ?

    I bought a Kaldewei Cayono tub. I also bought the deep soak bath drain to connect it. unfortunately, just realized I need about 10 1/2 inches between the drain pipe and drain plug. the 1640.305 only allows max of 9inches. any workaround?

    It would be best to return that drain and purchase one that will work with your tub.

    What is the distance between the holes for the screws in the overflow gasket, flange & retaining plate? I know it's the same for the 3 pieces that line up together for the escutcheon installation. I'm trying to see if it would work for another tub I have.

    drain seal leaks
    I bought this several years ago, recently installed it, and the drain stopper leaks, there is no adjustability, the rubber seal appears like new,

Since the unit is a few years old and was not installed until now the grease on the seal has more than likely dried up and is now malfunctioning.     Make a good tub soak an amazing deep soak
    This drain added some much needed water depth to our new tub. It was straight forward to install as long as you follow the directions very carefully. My plumber installed wrong...luckily i reviewed before he finished. Fit and finish was far ahead of what we replaced. Worth the extra cost. Would recommend this tub drain.

    Another deteriorated flange seal, can't get part
    Just like other reviews here, the problem is that you can't just get a replacement part for this drain. It's only 2 years old and the rubber seal that slips under the stopper has broken away at the seam. I can't believe you can't just buy a new seal, it would be a simple fix. This is a terrible oversight that really ruins what would otherwise be a very nice product

    great for that extra fill
    This is the ticket to get that little extra fill room in your tub. I read other reviews about not getting parts and don't understand. I sent one email to American Standard and they sent me a replacement pop up drain. Once I got it I noticed that the brass screw on the old one was not down as far as the new one. I took it apart and screwed the brass bolt down and the old one works fine and now I have a spare part.

    We installed the Deep Soak Drain. It really does work as far as allowing the water to rise for a deeper soak. Our only issue is with the pop up stopper. When it is in the down position is does allow some water to escape down the drain. From the time the tub is full until you undress and get in it is a noticable difference of about 1/8 inch of water. I have heard other good reports about this item and that is why I purchased it. It just seems mine has a slight seal problem. All in all I still like it and do not regret installing it.

    no replacement parts
    I was really happy with this product until the plastic push stopper top broke and I have been unable to find a replacement or a satisfactory substitute. The threaded female part under the cap itself cracked and the top fell off. I would not recommend this product until replacement parts become more readily available.
