Questions & Answers

Doors it automatically switch the sprayer off when turned off?

If you have the sprayer on and then turn the faucet off, will it automatically switch back to regular water flow (not sprayer) the next time the faucet is turned on?
Asked by: NS1
American Standard is definitely wrong. We have this faucet in our new house and my 5 year old thinks it's funny to push the button on the faucet that sets it to spray mode and watch us unknowingly get blasted by the overspray the next time we turn on the faucet.... IF it was designed to turn off one it lost water pressure, it completely fails that requirement.

someone said the spray keeps dropping and they have it scotch taped together

does this happen frequently and if so, what does Amer/Std do to remedy this?

When I installed mine I put the counter weight a littl far hence the spay was not going up. After changing it to a closer position it doesn’t drop any more

Can the handle be located in the front? Is the handle permanently attached or can it rotate to instal at the center

Asked by: Mtab
Amendment to previous answer: After posting I looked at my faucet and the little red/blue hot/cold indicator on the lever is actually a button that can be removed and put back in. It's not "keyed" in any way so I it can go back in any orientation you like. This means left hand mounted, front mounted, or even if you just desire forward for hot, back for cold, just swap hot and cold supply lines and reorientate the little indicator button. This is a solid win for American Standard.

I got no plumbing knowledge but instructions were pretty decent. Of course! Getting under the sink and tightning screws was hard. Decent looking faucet. The arch steal looks different from the base. Like the pause button. Pressure is great, my old faucet was testing my patience so I replaced it with this. The reach is also good. I have double sink in the kitchen. I was bit apprehensive to install it by myself but it all works well now and hopefully it won’t give trouble. All you need is a Philips screwdriver and 6in double speed adjustable wrench, flashlight, patience and good coffee.

High arc spout doesn't get in way of large pots and pans. 3. Built-in sprayers are nice and handy. Cons: 1. Faucet comes from the factory with cold on left and hot on right, exactly opposite of what it should be. 2. When you push the button from normal flow to sprayer, it will remain in spray mode until you click it back to normal flow. I prefer others I have used that the default flow was normal stream. 3. Weight wasn't heavy enough to pull handle back into position after pulling it out. 4. 20" supply hoses mean a lot of new owners will have to buy additional supply hoses or redo plumbing so that supply hoses reach shut-off valves.

The Fixture itself is nice and looks good but The Water Supply Supply Lines were too short. They were 9" too short and there were no adapters included in the box and no instructions that stated what type of adapters were need to extend the lines. It took over an hour to figure out what was needed to make the connection to the water supply. I could not purchase the correct extension because Home Depot only carries a 20" connector with 3/8" connectors on each end. The other nearby store carried the same. What was need was 2 - 3/8" OD Unions and 2 - 20" FXF Coupling Lines to extend the water line in order to make the connections. I only needed a 12" extension but it is not carried.

Not totally happy with the install and function. First, the supply lines were 6-8 inches too short. Went to Home Deport (place of purchase) and the customer service rep said it is a very common problem and directed me to a set of braided supply lines that remedied the situation.. Second, the counterweight is too light to fully pull the faucet head into the neck (left about an inch overhang),. I called American Standard (they must have heard this problem before) and the answer given was that I have to manually push the sprayer head into the neck. I said that is not really a good design as I have another faucet by another brand that fully retracts with the help of a magnet. Oh well, the price was fair, but quality and function below my expectations. Lesson learned. A magnet is the way to go.

I loved the look and feel of this faucet but my experience has been way too negative to give it more than one star. I wrote the entire experience, below, but here’s a quick summary of why my rating is so low: PROS: • Nice design at a very affordable price • Customer service with ‘First’ return was very good CONS: • No security tape on box resulted in: o Missing faucet base plate o Missing mounting hardware • Returned to store and told, “Store associates sometime remove parts to replace parts missing from other boxes!” • Installed 2nd faucet and sprayer had a hole which sprayed at a 90 degree angle across my kitchen! • Closer review revealed clear repair tape on the sprayer hose meaning I purchased a return! • Cold and Hot water lines were reversed! Lines are clearly marked with either blue or red markings. This is not a problem to correct by reversing the connections BUT shouldn’t happen. • Nearly 90 minutes drive time (two trips) and 45 minutes install time WASTED. • Still facing a return trip to Home Depot (40 minutes round-trip) PLUS uninstalling the faulty faucet and reinstalling whatever I replace it with. It won’t be this brand and possibly not the Home Depot after this adventure.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice, no-frills faucet. This is a nice faucet for the class and category. It's an American Standard and is made to all of their high-quality standards. It should last a long time, but it's really nothing fancy. It's a one-hole faucet, but comes with a cover plate so it can be installed in a 3-hole sink if necessary without compromising design. That's good. The finish is nice, it's a brushed stainless, but it's made from thinner metal, and the faucet head feels like it has a plastic housing. The spray nozzle has three buttons. The round one will stop the water from flowing. The toggle switch is to change from the normal stream of water to a spray. I'm a bit leery of pull-down faucets and believe this one will have difficulty staying put if it's not installed correctly. Installation is straightforward, but may be difficult if you haven't installed this type of faucet before, but that will only slow you down, not prevent you from doing it well. Overall if you're looking for an inexpensive faucet that will last a long time, this is a good option.

I had originally purchased the American Standard Colony Soft, you can see my review for that. It was perfect with the exception of having flow issues out of the box. I was going to try a different brand like Moen or Pfister, but didn't like the styles or pfast connect on the pfister. I ended up giving American Standard another chance and this one is what I had hoped for. The features that drew me to this are the pull down, pause, shower and flow options, it swivels, 1-3 hole installation and no wacky way to install that is proprietary. The flow is strong on this which I love. It can power through anything. Also it has indicators for hot-cold while others didn't. I am pleased with the purchase and would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great faucet and best value I love the flexibility of being able to use this for a 1 hole sink or a 3-hole. The finish is nice and the operation is good. Using the spray blows the food particles off the plates, but also splashes everywhere. Having the ceramic interior means this is going to last a long time. It was easy to connect, even though the directions stunk. The #1 problem is the head would pop off and dangle below the spout when you shut off the water or try to push it back in. It just doesn't stay up there, BUT I called to complain so they sent out an additional weight, which worked wonders. The package came with 1 (plastic) weight, but it wasn't very heavy. When I called they said that it should have come with 2, although the directions clearly show 1 should be in the box. The extra weight they mailed me was a heavy chunk of metal which sucks the head back up into the spout. Now it works great. I still think it is worth the price.
