Answer This Question

A:  Paul, Thank you for reaching out to American Standard. Because of the curvature of the Ovation it won't fit with any other tubs except for the Ovation. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

Q:Will this work with solid sheeting around tub?

    Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for the question, these walls are designed to be installed directly to the studs. If installing wall panels over greenboard and/or firewall material and not directly on the studs, your alcove dimensions must consider the thickness of this material. Measure from the inside of the finished walls. Your American Standard Consumer Connection Team.

A:  Greg, I am sorry but the Ovation will not work with a Princeton tub. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team

A:  It should be fine if it is just the shell walls you are installing. If you get the sliding doors, the doors won’t work because they are bowed out and you’d need the bowed tub for the doors.

            A few things to know...
1: trim the excess plastic from the back side of the wall assys so it sets flush against the studs. 2: test fit everything and drill pilot holes before final install, this way you can set the back wall by itself first (this is way easier than doing all 3 walls at once) 3: if using new psi treated studs as mounting points (glue points) leave them in the sun to dry at least a week or the adhesive will not stick. This is not a bad surround if you can get all 3 pieces at once undamaged I had to make 3 separate trips to 3 separate stores to in order to do this. 3 stores, each panel from each store to get undamaged panels. IF INSTALLING THE OVATION SLIDING GLASS DOOR ASSY... 1: The instructions are not the best but after decyfering them it's basically common sense (they have a 5:30 video on YouTube..NOT the best either) 2: The hardware (the screws) worst on the planet, don't even think about a cordless drill for these or they will strip! Instead take a cheap #2 Phillips head screw driver (we all have one we never use) and grind the tip down until it fits the screw. The prob with the screws is that they are shallow and do not allow a normal screwdriver to seat deep enough. 3: assemble the entire frame on the floor and make sure all the screws are tight and the frame joints are butted up (no gaps) 4: Very very important...test fit the walls and frame together before final assy, the frame only allows for an 1 1/8" variance from wall to wall (they could have done better than this) pics of the as of yet unfinished project but all of the hard parts are complete.

I thought the acrylic was a little thin, I glued and screw a piece if 1/4” luwan on the rear wall and then glued the surround to it. That did the trick! It looks and performs great!

This was one of the more affordable options for our bath remodel, I read the reviews before I ordered and there were no surprises. Looks good. Good price point. One issue with the install was that my stud rough in was just a bit tight and I had to slightly push the back wall panel corner to set it in-place. this resulted in reducing the "tongue and groove" opening (groove) and I was unable to push the side panel tongues into the grove opening. good thing I dry fit tested it first before applying the adhesive. I had to carefully shave the back lip of the side vertical panel with my utility knife to reduce the tongue thickness so it would fit into the grove. I didn't cut with the utility blade but I held the blade almost perpendicular to the panel thin lip edge and dragged it the full vertical length of the side while it was laying face down on the floor on a blanket. I pealed ribbon like long shavings from the lip until the side panel fit correctly in the back wall panel groove, I worked slowly shaving it down for 30 mins, dry fitting it several times before it fit correctly finally with a minimum finished joint opening on the shower side. This situation was not a problem with the product but my tight rough in that I created. Hope this may help others.

Product was easy to install and does not seem to be easily scratched on the finished surface. The thing I liked less than the more rigid fiberglass style surrounds, is that it was a bit more flexible than desired. If the adhesive used to hold the surround to the wall studs does not hold well, then the product may peel away at the bottom. I just finished installing my surround, so I cannot comment on future durability, but it currently meets my expectations for a low-cost shower surround.

              Poorly Made
NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! $50 more like it! The tub is the bomb! Spacious and beautiful and worth the money. BEWARE DO NOT PURCHASE wall surround it's cheap and flimsy!!! Unfortunately, no other wall surround fits we tried and had to return two of them. Had to use it because I was not installing wall tiles. I HATE IT AND THE EXPENSE!!! Tile the wall instead it will cost about the same.

Really like this tub and surround
I read the reviews before I bought this and figured I could add more backing if it felt too thin and flexible.. After doing what the directions said and adding studs where it said, following the glue directions exactly with bead size, pressing then pulling away, waiting then pressing it into the glue again I ended up with a great install.. Not flexing at all.. We really love it, put a row of tile around the edges, looks great!
