Keeps Downspouts Clean
Multiple pine trees overhang my house and pole barn which means needles clogging up the gutters and making their way into undergroud drains. These do a great job of stopping the debris from making it to the downspouts

Good if you want to constanly clean the gutter
It works well preventing the downspout from clogging but does not prevent the gutters from overflowing, or stagnant water in the gutter, unless the gutter is constantly cleaned.

Absolutely would not recommend this. I read the reviews about them clogging up gutters and thought they were exaggerating, but nope--- within a matter of weeks my gutters completely backed up and water was running off the sides during a storm. These basically allowed the debris from nearby trees to form a dam at every downspout and the water in the gutters could not drain. I had to clean everything out by hand. They were easy to install but they literally cause the thing they're supposed to prevent.

        KEEPS leaves from clogging downspouts
The strainer keeps leaves from running down your downspouts and clogging at elbows and connection points. Yes, the strainer traps leaves and debris, but the homeowner is supposed to then clean the gutters when debris accumulates. The strainer doesn't keep gutters clean; it keeps downspouts from getting clogged. Those who complain about their gutters are clogged do not have reasonable expectations. If 4 x $3 strainers can keep your gutters clean, why would there be Gutter Cleaning companies which charge $100-$200 to clean gutters 2-3 times a year ?? So, you still need to clean gutters yourself OR hire someone for $110-$200 per visit.
