Questions & Answers

Good for composting?

I see some reviews concerned about the strength of the fork tines; but would this be good enough for mixing & turning compost? is it a proper length for that kind of thing? (new to composting, here)
Asked by: Calmewende
No, a digging for (aka spading fork) s not that great for turning compost. You want a pitch fork for that. Because a spading fork has wide ties that are not very sharp or pointy at the ends, it does not hold onto composting material well. What a spading fork is best used for is for digging and lifting and tilling dirt a garden bed. A pitch fork has thick long pointy tines and is perfect for lifting and turning compost. I used to use a spading fork on my compost and it was frustrating. But when I got a pitch fork, it not only made the process easier and more efficient but it saved me a lot of time.

The base of the fork is one piece that is welded onto the shaft .There appears to be some special re-inforcement under the green covering.
