perfect from start to finish
in my house all the walls are already complete so i didn’t need a knife for taping but the old owners had a problem messing up drywall. anytime i remodel a room it involves patching some holes, sometimes big holes. that’s where this 12 inch taping knife came in handy. with the 12” width i can cover a pretty big area without having to trowel twice and leave a mark in the middle. what’s really great about this knife is that it’s so flexible i can use it to run skim coats. so after i get the holes filled i can blend it with the wall using the same knife. the rubber handle is so comfortable and grippy it’s no burden to use. the quality is good with a simple design basically pressing the the blade between two other pieces of metal with rivets making it to where there are no screws to worry about unthreading. the only thing i recommend is oiling the knife with a thin coat after each use.

Works great for larger patches.
Right now I am working on a full interior remodel of a home. And there was plenty of drywall work to do. Both large and small patches and some repair work from cabinets removed. I really like this larger trowel. It really helps me out on some of the larger patches and especially helped keep them flat and even. Especially where I removed the cabinets, this trowel was gold to flatten out the surface again and repair the damage from tear out. I really like the handle on it. I like to use the real heavy mud because it sticks the best in my opinion. But I like the material in this trowel is made of. It washes off clean every time. The blue coating on it is nice also. And so far no rust after about 15 to 20 washes. The blade on it is really nice and because of the length it was when I was taping it was easy to reach when I had to cut. I really like the way I was able to work the mud really wide after taping and with it being so long I was able to see low spots right away. That would definitely be my favorite thing about it is to cover large areas quick and be able to see low spots. Good quality tool from Anvil. And look forward to seeing what else they come up with because so far with drywall stuff they’re getting it right.

Having a couple makes life so much easier when painting or spackling
When taping seams, the first run of spackle has to be wide and light. Only taping knife like this one will do the job. It does have a soft grip. I thought that was just marketing but after using it for a week, it really does make a difference. The handle makes it easy to apply pressure to the blade and not wear out your hand or skin. When painting, this is a nice edger to keep paint at seams where you want it. This looks solid. Of course I rinse it off but I also use the dishwasher when I can. It is holding up. I have one for painting and one for spackling. It is a nice thing to have. You may not use it every day but when you do, you need it so get a couple.

The knife is great
This is a great knife I used it today and was able to cove a lot of area fast. It's solid very well made and fits the hand nicely. It also fits inside my mudding tray so there was not a problem getting mud out of the tray. I used it on a section of wall between a window and sliding glass door that was only 12" wide. It made it easy to apply the mud fast and then level it out by running the knife down the two corner trims. My problem was I ran out of mud. This is a bigger tool and does take a little to get use to it. None the less it is a very well made tool and great to have in my tool cabinet.

Great tool for mudding and taping
This tool is great for mudding and tapping as well. I used it to mud my picture window sill that was 5 1/2" wide. Using this knife I was able to get a nice even cover on the corner trim and the sill at one time. Then I used it to cover my joint tape with a wide coating of mud the handle fits my hand very nicely its easy to use it fits in the mud pan with no problem. It's easy to clean and store. It's a little flexible but the blade will not bend much. This would be a hard tool to break. It's the perfect size for windows and end walls and posts.

Comfortable drywall mud knife
The handle on the Anvil 8" taping knife is very well shaped and fits in my hand, reducing fatigue. The handle is riveted onto the blade which is stiff but still has a bit of flex to it. The end of the handle is metal so you could use it to tap shut the bucket lids of the ready mixed mud, and also keeps the end of the handle from chipping and scraping your hand. If you need drywall knifes, you will not be dissapointed with the Anvil knife handle comfort wise.

Nice putty/taping knife
This wide blade is your finishing knife for the final coat of wall plaster. The large straight, strong edge applies the last coat very smoothly. I love the look of the blue steel and the feel of the handle. It's very well made. I use my blade for more than putty. I use it as a guide to paint straight smooth edges and to protect the area where I don't want the paint to touch. It works well for that and no need to tape the wall. Painting made easy. I do recommend this brand and taping knife for your home repairs.

I have the Anvil 8”, 10”, and 12” Blue Steel taping knives with Soft Grip handles. Having all 3 sizes allows me to gradually build up and feather my joint compound for a professional looking finish. All 3 taping knives are lightweight and have ergonomic, non-slip rubber Soft Grip handles. Only the 8” taping knife has a handle with a metal nail setting head. The handles are double riveted to an aluminum backing and blade for lasting durability.
The Anvil brand knives are easier to hold and provide a better grip when compared to handles made of hard plastic or wood. I find the Blue Steel blades have a good level of flexibility that offers more control over the joint compound application.
Depending on how you take care of these taping knives, will determine how long they last. I have found that over time with use, Blue Steel blades will rust if cleaned and left to air dry. But, if you clean the blades soon after use, dry them, and then apply a light coating of 3 in 1 oil to the blades, the blades won’t rust. The taping knives should be hung by the handles or stored vertically to keep the blades from becoming damaged.
