Hi Ambb, thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the yellow tint on your project. Oil-based products do tend to have a yellow/amber tone to them, so I'd recommend removing this and applying our Water-Based Spar Urethane instead for a crystal-clear finish. Customer satisfaction is very important to us, so feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team directly for further assistance. They are always happy to help. Enjoy the rest of your day. -Christina Behr

The product is excellent!! It was used to protect a sign hung outside over my grandson’s workshop. The sign is made of cedar, and the urethane is excellent at bringing out and highlighting the grain while providing the needed protection from the elements. My grandson was excited about the outcome, and so was I!

Spar varnish is probably the best finish to use on an outdoor piece of furniture as it has UV inhibitors to keep the sun from fading the wood. If you have some nice cedar teak furniture than this wood be excellent to use. I'm going to use it on the unpainted wood parts of wood Christmas decorations we used this year. Some of the parts were just raw wood and they got soaked from rain and snow and are starting to disintegrate so I'm going to have to re-cut those parts and then put a coat of this finish on to protect them. I was going to coat the whole Christmas item but the instructions recommend that this product not be used over other paints.

This is a nice clear wood sealer that would work well for most wood projects. In my experience, I felt like the sealer went on a bit thicker than expected. It might ideally need lightly sanded with a second coat to provide a nice final finish. Even though clear, it resulted in a slightly darker tint (which is expected). It would likely bring out the grains nicely in a more complex type of wood. Even though it seemed thick and slow to dry, I feel confident that it would provide a strong and reliable seal that would hold up well. Lastly, as with most oil-based products, this has a very strong smell until dry so even though it is indoor/outdoor you'll definitely want to apply it outdoors until completely cured. The Semi-Gloss Clear Oil-Based Interior/Exterior Spar Urethane Wood Sealer Aerosol version went on much lighter and would be easier to gently layer. You can see the side by side comparison with one coat applied from each in the attached photos.

My old hoe has seen better days but I really like it for tumble weeds around my shop. It is only 4 feet long because I use it to grab blowing weeds from the fence to put them in a garbage can on the way to the burn barrel. I have ground the point off so it has a 1 and ½ inch flat and sharp point to easily cut the root from the weed. A regular hoe requires several hits to cut tumble weeds off because you are hitting a 6 inch wide surface. Against hard dirt this is futile. I sanded the handle down and applied the first coat and about 3 hours later it was ready for a second coat which went on easily and looks good.

We have a new home and we have all the baseboard trim and window and door trim in wood. It turned out gorgeous! The poly went on nice and smooth with a trick that I learned years ago, and that is to thin it with mineral spirits 1:3. This allows the poly to flow smoothly from the brush. Just go slow and it won't leave runs, drips or puddles. Most importantly don't stir aggressively or you will put air bubbles in the poly!

I have some colorful chairs and table in my sun room and since the sun, wear and tear has made it a bit dull I decided to paint the small chips and then paint some of the Satin Clear Oil Based Urethane. They are not outside but they do get some of the sun and when the windows are open they also get direct sunlight. With this added protection I hope they last longer because it will protect them with the UV inhibitors included. It is Oil based so it does have a strong odor and it is best to do it in a well ventilated area or outside. I did put the clear coat and left and when I came back it was dry to the touch but since they are chairs I did let them seat for a few days before putting the cushions on. The finish product is smooth and clear since urethane it is soft and flexible. Recommend it for a nice look, satin is not too glossy but not a matte finish either.

The Behr satin clear oil-based finish gives a great protective finish to your project. Works well with either outdoor or indoor projects. It enhances the finish, especially if you put a stain. The sample I used was just over unstained wood but highlights the grain in the wood. It is simple to apply and drys very fast. You can apply multiple applications to give it a great shine. Water resistant and has UV inhibitors.

Satin Clear Oil-Based Interior/Exterior Spar Urethane Wood Sealer. Behr Spar urethane is impressive. I did not know Behr even made Spar urethane. First I should point out I made a mistake on my first coat. The Can clearly indicate to utilize a paint brush I attempted to use a paint pad. It created bubbles in the coating, which I had to sand prior to recoating. I utilized a Wooster brush it did the trick. As you can see in the picture it provided simply a great finish. I am repairing a Garage door, which is wood and wafer panels that expand with moisture. I needed a tough coating to withstand moisture and sun. I think I found my solution. I would recommend this for anyone needing protection from rain and sun.
