Q:Hi. Can I apply this product to a pressure treated decking board? I think it's pine if I'm not wrong. I already sanded it several times with 180 then 400 because it splinters a lot. I'm going to use it as a window sill. Do I need to apply conditioner?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Marianella, thank you for your question. Before coating pressure treated wood you want to let it dry for 6-8 weeks. After, we recommend using the water-based Behr Pre-Stain Wood Conditioner for acceptance of the stain and uniform results. You can then apply the stain to an interior window sill. If you have further questions, please reach out to our customer care team directly; they are always happy to help! -Alex

Not runny and this is the only brand that actually saturates into the wood. Makes my furniture look brand new. Beautiful deep color. I bought the espresso color. Stained a large coffee table from a light oak color to this espresso color and only needed two coats to get the desired dark finish.

Don't waste your time or money.
This product is absolute garbage. It comes out thick, like thicker than paint. I'm ready to strip it all off my project and go with another product. This stuff doesn't go on well at all. I made a huge mistake, going for the 2 in 1, stain and polly, when I say this is making my life miserable, I'm not joking. Very very upset with this product. I used multiple different processes of apply this, rag, foam brush, regular brush. I've worked with lots of stain, this is garbage.

            Great product
Two coats of Behr Espresso Semi Transparent Gloss Stain/Poly, some light sanding with rearrangement of few pieces here and there, a bit of apprehension and lot of patience helped this first time DIYer convert an old solid wood China Cabinet into a TV Console and a Foyer table.

Added some oak trim to bottom of kitchen cabinets to shield two under-cabinet lights. Lightly sanded, two coats, matched my old cabinets perfectly!

Love this stain and poly. Light sanding after first poly coat and it really made the wood grain stand out. More importantly my wife loves the new look of our old table.

It went on easy and color was what I was looking for. Too soon to tell about durability. But I needed something that would stain and seal in short amount of time and this worked perfectly. Clean up was super easy and quick too. That’s always a plus.

I really like the way it looks - don’t be scared off by how it looks pink in the can! Use very thin layers of stain as you are instructed to and let it dry between each coat. I did four coats in total and am very happy with how it looks.

Liked the results, kept going back for more! Ended up putting 3 coats on an unfinished beadboard ceiling. Didn’t think I wanted a dark, nor shiny, finish. Ha! It’s dark like a deep tannic water/brewed tea and shines like the top of the Chrysler bldg. Looks like old 50’s wood paneling that the shellac has carbonized over time. Perfect for my completely redone 50’s creek shack.

The stain has no resemblance to the color sample. I knew something was up when the stain looked purple when I opened the lid. Now I regret my decision to use this stain and now have to figure out how to remove and start my project over.
