Not red anything... black.
It looks & feels like a decent quality stain and it did cover in one coat but the color is black though the can says Red Mahogany and the picture has a reddish tinge to it.

Too dark
Purchased this as a replacement to Varathane Premium Fast Dry wood stain in Dark Walnut. Color is nowhere near close. This is almost black on first application to plywood. My project is ruined.

Provincial looks BLACK
I bought this stain for a coffee table I made. It went on incredibly dark, almost a black color. I waited the 12 hour dry time hoping the color would lighten to even remotely resemble what the can tone was but it didn't. The color was nearly black after one coat. I would not recommend this product at all. Completely ruined what I built.

Well packaged product. No damage noted when delivered. Looking forward to using this product on a project I plan on doing for my elder mother. She absolutely loves natural wood products. And using this BEHR stain and finished with BEHR polyurethane will absolutely bring out the natural grain in the wood. Unfortunately the pandemic and dealing with COVID-19 has prevented me from visiting her. So the best I can say for now, is looking forward to seeing her face when this is all over.

Behr usually makes paint but I guess now they do stain too. It's a oil base with gel. It's good for professionals and DIY ers. You can use it not only on wood but also, metal and fiberglass. I'm not sure how it would work but with Minwax you have only one option which is wood. It only takes 1 coat for the stain to work. You can use mineral spirits or paint thinner to clean things up with.

The Advanced Formula Oil-Based Stain by Behr.
This product is thick almost like a gel. The advantage of this is that it doesn’t drip all over and ruin other surfaces. It pretty much stays where you put it. It goes on thick and is easy to move around your work surface. You can use a pad, brush, or lint free cloth. You apply it and then let it sit for a few minutes before you wipe off any excess stain. The stain gets good absorption into the wood. I used the Dark Walnut.
As with any stain, surface preparation is critical. To get a good finish you need to:
1. Sand surface with progressively higher numbered sandpaper – up to 220 grit. Any surface imperfections get highlighted by stain
2. Use a wood conditioner (Behr sells a pre-stain conditioner) to seal the pours of the wood and give a more uniform appearance to your finish.
My examples are just scraps of wood that were not properly prepared for staining. My goal is to show how the stain absorbs in different woods.
