How many coats should be used for a living room wood floor?

Hi stevei54, Thank you for writing in. For best results, we recommend applying 1-2 coats. I hope this information was helpful. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions you may have. Best of luck with your project! ~Doris

Can i use this paint for vinyl siding? If so what kind of prep?

Asked by Mike May 3, 2021

Answers

Hi Mike - Thank you for your question. We don't recommend applying this product to vinyl siding. You may want to check out our Ultra Exterior paint line for your project instead. We recommend scuff sanding the vinyl and making sure it's clean and dry before applying the Ultra directly to the surface. We also recommend choosing a paint color that's lighter or similar to the vinyl's original color to prevent your siding from absorbing too much heat and warping. Best - Sara

yes i would like to know can use this paint on basement steps, want to repaint, and is this paint...

Hi gus - Thank you for your question! This paint can be used on basement steps. If your steps have already been painted, we recommend scuff sanding the existing paint and cleaning the surface with a concrete cleaner/degreaser before applying the Porch & Patio Floor Paint on top. Our Low-Lustre finish will dry to a satin-like sheen that may become slippery when wet. It's best to remove standing water from the surface to prevent slips. If you prefer a slip resistant paint, I recommend checking out our Textured Low-Lustre Anti-Slip Porch and Patio Floor Paint for your project instead (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-PREMIUM-1-Gal-PFC-63-Slate-Gray-Textured-Low-Lustre-Enamel-Interior-Exterior-Anti-Slip-Porch-and-Patio-Floor-Paint-629501/312672301?MERCH=REC-_-plpsearch_multi-_-NA-_-312672301-_-N). Can this be used on a new deck to paint over as a stain. Or should you stain the deck first.

Asked by Tav April 20, 2021

Answer

Hi Tav. Thanks for writing in with your question. Our Porch & Patio Floor Paint is a great option for a solid color look on a new wood deck, and staining first isn't required. I recommend cleaning the wood with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 63, letting the surface dry, priming with our Multi-Surface Stain-Blocking Primer & Sealer No. 436, then applying this paint. Good luck with your project! -Joni

Can this be tinted different colors?

Asked by Dookieboi April 7, 2021
1
Answer

Hi Dookieboi, Thank you for writing in. As it turns out, this paint is already tinted to Slate Gray #PFC-63, so we do not recommend attempting to tint it to other colors because it can lead to overfill/inconsistent results. Porch & Patio Floor Paint is available in many colors. You can use the following link to view the colors available for online purchasing: https://thd.co/31XfKtS Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions you may have. ~Doris

Terrible paint. Do not buy this.
Painted uncovered stairs and covered porch in summer 2020. Did not last through this winter. Anywhere water dripped or pooled the paint bubbled and cracked. Scuffed off on stair treads. Live in interior of B.C. No unusual weather to wear this paint off. Bought 5 cans, two coats. Never again. Waste of money. Behr should be ashamed to sell this product. I like Home Depot and this is the first time I’ve bought a poor product from them.

Response from BehrMar 9, 2021
Hi Unhappytoiletinstaller,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Porch & Patio Floor Paint. I'm very sorry to hear about the longevity issues experienced, as it's not what we want our customers to go through.

The loose paint edges can be sanded down with medium grit (80-120) sandpaper to a smooth finish. If the paint is peeling down to a previous coating, you can clean, sand, and touch up with more paint. Etching with something like muriatic acid is recommended if the paint is peeling down to bare concrete.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your project and find the best way to help.

Hi ChrisC - Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that this color looks blue. I recommend making sure the color was mixed correctly by comparing the paper swatch for Slate Gray PFC-63 to the dried paint dab on the lid of your can. If they match, the color is correct, and you may want to choose a new color to recoat your project with. If they don't match, the color may have been mixed incorrectly, and we would recommend continuing your project with the right color. So we can assist you with this further, please feel free to reach out to us directly. We hope to hear from you! – Sara Behr

Slate Blue not Gray
Does this picture look like the color on the can matches the colors of the stone beneath it? No it does not. My wife meticulously painted our porch cobblestones for 4 hours to then look at a finished product that is below expectations but more importantly, not what Behr is advertising/showing. Test an area before you complete your whole project...

Hi ChrisC, thank you for your review, and I am sorry to hear the color didn't come out as expected. Sometimes colors can look different based on the lighting and their surroundings. Because of this, it's best to sample the color first in a small test area. To help with this, please reach out to us directly; we'd love to make things right. -Edith Behr

Outstanding Results
I have used this in the garages/shops in every home I've lived. Used with the Behr Cement Bonding. Both go on quickly and easily. After the Bonding primer, I use two coats, in different directions, of the Porch and Patio paint in gloss. It does dry to the touch in 2hrs, but wait the 72 hrs min before putting anything back. I don't park my lawn tractor, 4wheeler or vehicles for at least 6 days to a week depending on the temp/humidity. Try not to turn any wheels for a couple of weeks. Do this and you shouldn't have any problems. My shop floor has taken a beating and still looks and holds up very well. There are scratches, but nothing that has gone through the paint. It might be slightly slippery right away when wet, but that goes away even with the gloss which is what I have always used. Cleans up easily and isn't affected by oils, snow, salt, etc. This turns into a very touch and durable surface.

I have used this product on three floors. On two it covered in one coat. One older required two. Easy to work with roller or brush. Not too odiferous.

This is my second time using this floor paint. I used it on pressure treated plywood of a chicken coop to give extra protection and make for easier cleaning. It mixed well and without much effort and applied nicely. I applied a second coat after 3 hours and it was dried nicely by the end of the day. I have found that behr paints offer excellent coverage, durable finishes and great value. I will continue to use them and recommend giving them a try.
