Paint totally failed during application.
This paint totally failed. As a professional painter, I sprayed metal roofing panels laying flat during the heat of the day, allowing them to setup before dusk set in nearly three hours later. 15 panels in all. All but three of the panels were set and completely dry to the touch as dusk fell. 77* heat in direct sunlight when sprayed. 65* a half-hour before dusk. The last three panels never dried.
By morning, each and every panel had re-hydrated and the paint had ran like it had been sprayed down with a hose. Some of the metal was completely exposed again, and other places had ran, wrinkled, puddled, and bubbled. It was unreal. I was stunned. Complete failure.
As a professional painting contractor, I'd never used Behr products before. The paint simply failed to emulsify. I let the panels lay for several days before installing them on the roof, and at that point had no choice but to paint a second coat after installation on the steep-pitched roof itself, after MANY hours of cleaning and prepping the panels for a second coat. I only had a three-hour window that I felt I could safely apply that last coat each day, and a simple one-day installation turned into more than a week as a result.
My panels are ruined. I have no idea how well this paint will fare over the months and years ahead. The paint looks like it was applied by a total amateur. This is on an investment project that I own myself. I plan to replace the panels in the spring once the weather clears again due to the lousy finish I've ended up with as a result of this product's failure.

DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE!
Second time using this garbage. Color is not even close to what i asked for, when applied in optimal conditions, you cant apply this crap thin enough to stop it from running. Pic on the left is ONE coat of rusteloem, on the right is after the THIRD coat of this behr garbage, suposed to be safety orange.

Don’t buy
Horrible paint. Clogs up sprayer really bad, sales associate said you can thin it and will work with any air gun. Sprayed on brand new metal and it rust leaked right through over night

When spraying the Direct to metal paint, it's recommended to use an airless sprayer with a .009 - .017 sized tip. I'd recommend applying another coat of paint to your project to cover over the rust. Got Blotches
IDK about this paint. It goes on smooth as butter. Dries super fast. BUT, after two coats, I can see not only the brush strokes, but it’s blotchy in some areas. I prepped the doors by removing all old paint, sanded & cleaned twice with a good cleaner. Im also using high quality brush & roller. I’m going to put a 3rd coat on & see how that does it. Not sold yet.

This is one of the best paints I have ever bought. It covers everything with one coat. Very durable, and easy clean up. I will never buy another paint for metal again, besides this one. Unless Behr comes up with a better one. I totally stand behind the Behr product.
