Q:Can I put a lighter color Behr solid stain over a darker Behr semi transparent stain? Or do I need to strip the pre existing darker color?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Halfhill02, thanks for the question. You can apply any color Solid-Color Concrete Stain over our Semi-Transparent Concrete Stain. You just need to remove any stain that is starting to peel, etch any areas with bare concrete, clean the surface with a concrete cleaner & degreaser, and prime the surface with our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer before applying the new stain. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:A former question and answer recommended a sealer that is a penetrating sealer and I don’t think it will work with the Behr concrete stain. If I am correct, what sealer would be best? Water based Acrylic? Q:Is this considered a sealer and wate

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi TnT1, thanks for the question. After applying the Solid-Color Concrete Stain, applying a penetrating Sealer isn't recommended. The stain would interfere with the sealer penetrating into the concrete. If you want to apply a sealer over the solid stain, I'd recommend using a water-based sealer such as our Low-Lustre or Wet-Look sealers. If you have additional questions about our products, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. -Ronald

Q:Using this for a pickleball court indoors. Anything I could add to make it a gritty texture? Or would it be ok as is? Don’t want to slip and slide on the court. Thanks!

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Bmurri, thanks for the question. You can add our Anti-Slip Floor Finish to the stain before applying the final coat. It adds a slight texture to the surface helping with slip-resistance. Have a great day! -Ronald

Q:I allowed light foot traffic on my porch after more than 24 hrs of the last coat and there are footprints in the stain. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

        Answer This Question

A:  Ji Jhoch321, thanks for the question. I'm sorry to hear that there are footprints on the coating. To fix the issue, I'd recommend letting the stain dry for at least 72 hours and try cleaning it with soap and water or a concrete cleaner/degreaser. If cleaning doesn't work, I'd suggest touching up the area with more of the stain. If needed, apply a thin coat to the entire area for uniformity. Does not stick on concrete well
I ordered this product and did everything they recommended, from buying a cleaner for the floor, buying a product to etch the floor, priming the floor, and then staining the floor and it lasted about 2 days before starting to peel. What the heck?! I spent a lot of money on all of these products for it not to work.

Hello, thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear about the peeling you're experiencing. That is not the performance we expect of our products. Our Solid Color Concrete Stain should provide a durable and protective finish. To fix the peeling, I recommend removing any loose coating and etching the bare concrete if it feels smoother than 150 grit sandpaper. Make sure the floor is clean and dry before spot priming the area. Then, touch up the area and apply a thin coat if needed for uniformity. We value your customer satisfaction, and this is not the experience we want for our customers. The colors are too bright, inaccurately displayed
This is my second review. On further consideration, I find the Deep Terra Cotta MUCH brighter than it shows online & in the catalog. It is too bright red, not earth tone. Whoever is responsible for the colors in this line needs to be fired. He or she is wasting people's money and time. The colors are VERY inaccurately represented & , in my experience, do not reflect good visual taste or a discerning eye. If I am still in this house next spring, I may change the color to gray. More $$$. Bad.

              Goes on very nicely
Excellent stain 2 coats did the job. Very happy with the quality of the stain. Drys in 2 hours then ready for the second coat. Highly recommend to first use a power washer on the concrete first. Didn’t have to use a primer.

Hi Joseph. thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the Solid-Color Stain was too thin and started to peel the next day. This is not typical, and I can understand your disappointment. The stain should be the consistency of a blended smoothie. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Stain concrete, don't paint it.
I am extremely pleased with results. Easy to apply after doing the proper steps; etch and clean, plus the Behr primer. Appears it will hold up for a long time and stain is the way to go for concrete vs. paint.
