Q:Is this product keep patio cool when it is 100 degrees outside
by|May 27, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Kathy, thank you for your question. As it turns out, our floor coatings, including the Solid Concrete Stain, are not formulated to keep surfaces cool. Instead, we recommend applying light colors as darker colors retain heat, making the surface temperature much warmer than expected. Have a great day! - Randy

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Smell, thank you for your question. The Solid Color Concrete Stain may have a slight ammoniacal odor, and proper ventilation is always recommended to help reduce any smell and allow the coating to dry properly. Have a great day! - Randy

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Bryan, thank you for your question. Yes, as long as the surface is sound, clean, and dry, you can paint over it. I recommend our Porch and Patio Floor Paint to go over the stain (if applying on floors with no vehicle traffic). Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

A:  I hated the color of my stain so I had it painted over and nothing is bonding to it. It keeps peeling. I don't suggest. 2 professionals later I came here to see if I can strip it and just use a darker stain color.

A:  Hi Gwen, thanks for the question. I'm sorry that the color of the stain may be too dark. I wouldn't recommend adding anything to the stain to lighten it. Goes on very nicely
Excellent stain 2 coats did the job. Very happy with the quality of the stain. Drys in 2 hours then ready for the second coat. Highly recommend to first use a power washer on the concrete first. Didn’t have to use a primer.

Large Concrete Staining Project (Driveway, Sidewalks, Patio)
Used this product to stain an approximate 3,500 sf of concrete (driveway, sidewalks, patio). The 5 gallon product states 2,000-3,000 sf per pail however I got about 1,500 sf from each pail (2,000-3,000 sf might be for the second coat but I will see once I apply start applying the second coat). Product was easy to apply however it definitely requires a minimum of 2 coats (possibly 3) for a uniform look.

This paint was recommended to me by a good friend who is in the pool maintenance business about 13 or 14 years ago. I used the product on my old cool deck and 8 years later it still looked great. I moved late last year and resorted to this product once again for the pool deck at my current house. 2 coats does the trick, extremely pleased.

                Hi Steph96,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Solid Color Concrete Stain. I'm very sorry to hear about the tire mark issue experienced, as it's never what we want our customers to go through.

As it turns out, the stain requires a 14-day dry time before it can experience direct tire traffic. However, you can park on top of corrugated cardboard after a 72-hour dry time. The tire marks can be cleaned with soap and water or a concrete cleaner.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your experience and find the best way to help.

                Kindest regards,

                Doris Behr

                  Hi Steph96,

Thank you for reviewing Behr 1-Part Epoxy. I'm very sorry to hear about the tire tracks left behind, as that's never what we want our customers to go through.

As it turns out, 1-Part Epoxy requires a 7-day dry time before it can experience direct tire traffic. The tire marks can be removed with soap and water or with a concrete cleaner. The last coat of paint should dry for at least 72 hours before cleaning.

Customer satisfaction is very important to us, and I encourage you to contact Behr directly for further assistance. We'd love to learn more about your experience and find the best way to help.

                    almost white
We special ordered. Not returnable. We were hoping for a tan that had some brown tint to it. This has no brown at all. Almost a light gray. The stain itself covers well. Disappointed with the tint.

                      Awful. Awful. Awful
Followed all directions. Applied 3 coats and spent hours doing my drieway. A month later it is pealing, cracking, stained from leaves and flower petals and DOES NOT resist hot tire marks. Waste of money and time

                      Response from BehrAug 28, 2020
                      Hi unhappycustomer,

Thank you for reviewing Behr Solid Color Concrete Stain. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling and dirt resistance issues experienced, as it certainly isn't what we want our customers to go through. To fix the peeling issue, I recommend sanding down the loose edges before cleaning and touching-up/recoating. Tough stains can be removed with a concrete cleaner from Home Depot. If the stain is peeling down to bare concrete, the concrete should be etched with something like muriatic acid to increase adhesion. After a new coat is applied, the stain should dry for at least 14 days before direct tire traffic. Cooler weather and higher humidity can sometimes prolong the dry time.

Please contact Behr's Customer Care Department for further assistance with this matter. We'd love to find a way to help.

                      Kindest regards,

                      Doris Behr
