An excellent shrub
We received this shrub today, called California Privet, also known as Ligustrum oval folium. It was very well packaged and seemed to be watered well before it left a nursey. It has the traits to attract butterflies and is drought tolerant. Being drought tolerant is very important to me. most people tend to neglect water plants properly. It blooms in mid-summer and has hardiness to -10F. Apparently it can grow to 10-12 feet high, so prepare accordingly.

I had bought two of these palms at Home Depot...
I had bought two of these palms at Home Depot and was looking to replace one. The one that came from online store had same pot size but was much smaller then the one I bought in the store so I had to return it.

Deer resistant!
I love Ligustrum because it is deer resistant! My yard is not fenced and deer do not mess with this shrub! It is a hardy plant that does well in Texas climate - especially our scorching summer temperatures. I also love that is produces as pretty white flower that adds color to my landscape. I have planted mine in a bed that receives partial sunlight throughout the day. Ligustrum typically grows fairly fast and can create a beautiful focal point in your landscape.
