Do you have this in 3 inch wide?

Asked by Pam September 18, 2020

Answer

Hello and thanks for contacting us. Oak Bourbon is available in a 3 inch wide width but the random length planks are 9 inch up to 45 inch length. I attached a link to the product. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Blue-Ridge-Hardwood-Flooring-Oak-Shale-3-4-in-Thick-x-3-in-Wide-x-Varying-Length-Solid-Hardwood-Flooring-18-sq-ft-case-20793/207015613

What product is best to clean this floor with?

Asked by Kay June 6, 2020
1
Answer

Hello and thanks for contacting us. The flooring should only be cleaned using a good quality cleaner (such as Bona Hard-wood Floor Cleaner) made specifically for wood flooring. Remove any loose dirt or grit from the floor. The cleaner should not be liberally applied to the flooring, only misted via the floor care system selected if automated or applied directly to the micro-fiber pad. Use of non-approved cleaning and maintenance products including oil soap, liquid/paste wax, oil, silicone or ammonia based products will void all warranties. Do not wet mop or use steam cleaners of any kind on the floor. If you have any other questions please e-mail us at customerservice@blueridgehardwood.com.

At this time, we do not offer complimenting stair treads for our products. Unfinished stair treads could be purchased and you can reach out to a Blue Ridge Customer Service representative to obtain the stain code that would allow you to purchase the coordinating stain color. So far so good, it's been a month and it's holding up great with our lab.

How shiney is the finish on this floor. I’m looking for something with minimal shine.

This product is finished with a Medium Gloss finish. There is some reflective property to the floor but unlike a High Gloss, the color of the floor still shows and is not fully washed out by light reflection. Contact our Customer Service team at customerservice@blueridgehardwood.com and we can provide you with a sample to review the product in your living environment.

Avoid this brand!
I wouldn't recommend this brand at all. While these floors are priced well, it doesn't make up for all the issues. I picked up a sample from home Depot, as I know not to trust web images. Luckily it looked the same. Ordered 19 boxes and not one box matches the sample. They should be bordering on dark brown but are a medium carmel/walnut color. So either home depot mislabeled the samples or the vendor changed the oak bourbon finish. As you can see in the image, its not even close to the same color despite the skus matching. Also the previous buyer complaints about the mills quality control are correct. I have boards with broken tongues, bug holes, splintering wood and general finish defects and ive only opened a few boxes. Long story short im paying a fortune now to have floors i didnt order installed. The discount from home depot doesn't come close to compensating for what ive had to go through and for the quality of floors i ended up with. So buyer beware you can end up with floors you didnt order while they still make a profit. Fingers crossed installation goes better!

Response from Flooring ManufacturerJul 15, 2020
Thank you for taking the time to post your concerns. We have not changed our Bourbon stain color and have verified that the inventory we have on hand matches our color master. We will always take back and /or exchange any uninstalled cartons of flooring.

Since this is a totally natural product made from real wood, it is common to have knots, color variation, etc. The picture on the right shows worm holes on the back of a plank. This is normal, OK to install and will not affect the performance of the floor. The second plank shows a small section of a tongue that is loose. Occasionally an inconspicuous flaw such as this can be missed during the manufacturing process. The loose portion of the board can be cut off and the rest of the board utilized.

It is customary to purchase 10% extra for all flooring projects to allow for cuts, etc. This is especially important when installing natural products so that any boards with undesirable features can be culled out. An experienced wood flooring installer will be well versed in working with the irregularities that a solid floor poses and should have no problem installing this flooring. The use of putty and /or a stain pen during installation is considered normal for all wood floors. HDOnlineSupport

We just LOVE this floor! We could not buy, see, or fine a sample at any nearby store in the time frame we needed it by so we took a chance and ordered it based on reviews and photos. So glad we did. The oak shale is a gorgeous brown with a hint of gray. Not too gray. The pieces are all so gorgeous, rustic, and unique. We did not have too many problematic pieces. My Father-in-law and husband did not have much waste while installing, they used the imperfect pieces as end pieces. All in all, a great purchase, great price, great quality. Would recommend. Everyone LOVES our floor!

I bought because the color matched our existing floors well. My husband and I have installed hardwoods in our home before so knew what to expect. The wood was really brittle - like splinter even after complete brittle. We had to putty and ‘stain’ in some of the seams because the splinters. I am worried how they will hold up. There were quite a few boards without the tongue - we put those at the end so didn’t waste but ended up with more than we could use like that.

The Blue Ridge Hardwood flooring is beautiful and is exactly the look we wanted to match other hardwood flooring we have. The only problem was that some of the pieces had little to no tongue on them. Other than that everything was great.
