Q:What size ro system should I be using for a 7000cfm swamp cooler. How do I calculate how many gallons your swamp cooler will use?
    by|Apr 15, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The water usage is going to vary throughout the day based on the temperature as well as a relative humidity, both variables are going to change throughout the day. The best estimate is, it’s probably going to use 4 to 7 gallons of water per hour when it is running, including what is exited through the bleed line.

A good Bair for the price. Not hard to install. Cools my house better than I expected. Very quiet outside. The neighbors can not hear it at all. We will see how many seasons it will last. It is plastic and therefore will not rust out.

Great performance but inspect the unit first
Upon getting the unit home and removing the protective film, I discovered that one of the side panels had several deformed louvers in various places. No sign of damage or scuffing was evident on the outside of the plastic film. The warped sections are sturdy and obviously were shipped that way. Bonaire Customer service was unresponsive until the chat line provided an arrogant denial of the issue and cited Home Depot as the responsible party. No damage just poor quality control from the Mfg.

          bonaire Durango 7000CFM. zip tie
we love our Durango, roof mount, we live in Mariposa, yesterday 105, love this unit except, BEWARE: it comes with a zip tie on both ends of pump hose, that directs water to the pads, hose came off, figured something was wrong by the sound, shut it off, shut off water, climbed roof and water everywhere, including the attic. had water dripping in dining room hard wood floor. we do have ceiling damage. quote coming to fix, air conditioning company came and fixed hose at 7am. still love the unit, wanted to share this "very important issue"

Very Easy Install and Great Air Flow
I was able to take this cooler apart to easily transport it up on my roof by myself. Very easy to reassemble. Had everything done in a couple hours including reassembly, water hookup, and electrical connection. This unit moves a lot of air. We have never had a unit push this much air through our vent system. Very happy with it so far.

Good unit but in high temperature can only do so much to cool house. Maximum temperature difference of 20 F is all you can expect.

              Not recommended
The unit is meant for direct vent only. Meaning no duct system. It sounded like one of those giant metal fans or an airplane. Didn't cool as good as old standard cooler. After a week had it uninstalled and a mastercool installed which I can barely hear and is cooling much better. Durango struggled to keep house below 80. The mastercool is keeping it at 72 and isn't constantly on like the Durango. Don't waste money like I did having to have 2 installs and an uninstall.

                Doesn’t keep shape
Purchased 4 yrs ago and witching the first year had one panel replace (free by company). If you’re in hot sun, the sides do not maintain their shape. The pick tube that feed the pads shrink and need to be replaced. Water deposits hard to clean since it’s plastic. And it’s pretty loud. Can’t run it on high due to noise. Im sure if I had a side draft system, it wouldn’t be so bad. Overall, I’d go with the old school cooler or master cool. Can’t beat metal.
