Kona 54 in. Left Drain Rectangular Alcove Soaking Bathtub in White is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 517.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Short Tub Stretches Dollar Got this tub to replace fiberglass tub/shower tearout in a mobile home. Good fit, though it required bumping outer wall into room 2-1/2 in. (tub is only 30 in. wide) to get close enough for existing plumbing to work. Also had to cut a small hole in one wall on near side of tub due to insufficient clearance left by built-in linen closet. Extra insulation in double wall and also under both ends of tub itself help make bath very quiet, even with ceramic tile surround. Tub comes with large 2" block of styrofoam attached under middle bottom for leveling and sound deadening. Surface cleans easily - just like your enamelled kitchen appliances (bottom has a superfine grit component that makes it non-skid, and can not be cleaned with any abrasive cleaners or methods). However, because I do know well how to damage enamel surfaces in the kitchen, we are keeping all metal objects out of the tub!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chips too easily This bathtub looks very nice. However, the first time it was shipped, it had a big black gouge in it from shipping so I had to return it. That should have been my first clue. Then I waited and the second tub arrived and looked beautiful. At first. When I tried to take the glued label off, it seemed to scratch slightly. Then when a shower door was installed on it, a chip came off of the porcelin and there is a black spot! The problem with this tub is that the porcelin coating must be very thin. Underneath, the tub's color is black. It is my opinion that this tub scratches, chips, and gouges too easily. You might say, "She must not have installed the shower door very carefully." I assure you, all care was taken. This tub is already installed in my new home so I cannot just yank it out. So I will have to buy a porcelin repair kit. But I have to tell you, if this tub already gets scratched and chipped, what will it look like a year from now? I am very nervous.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quality Control at plant is inexcusable. I should of payed attention to reviews. This is a very apparent problem with this company. They apparently have no QC department to check the quality of their work. I am out $125.00 for a plumber that showed up to install tub, and we had a tub that had over 3" bare spot and crack in a VERY obvious spot of the tub. I did immediately contact homedepot.com who was very concerned with my situation and has apparently tried everything in their power to get me an expediated tub, which the manufacture will NOT do, unless I want to pay for the shipping. Had to borrow a truck to take tub back to my nearest Home Depot store before we could even get a credit and repurchase another. Plumber fees and 1/2 day wasted. Plus add another week and 1/2 before another tub arrives. Based on my experience and other reviews who's to say same senario won't happen again. Sorry company and will not buy another product from this company. Must say Home Depot has been great to work with. At least they have tried to make it right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A dood deal. This was the only thing that I could fit the bath alcove and wasn't plastic or far out of budget. I arranged to have the unit delivered to the store. The packing was surprisingly substantial. There were no signs of impacts, piercings or other damage to the packaging. I left the tub in the package until it was time to do the fit up. The tub was well finished, clean and free of any chips dents or porcelain slag. It is light at only about 60#. The fit up went very cleanly. The porcelain did not spall from installation. It was dimensionally accurate with the spec sheet. You may have to use a short ledger for the one end of the tub as it has a cross brace. This shouldn't be a problem. I also insured that the bottom of the tub was seated on a substantial base against the pre-installed foam pad. Once I had it fitted and in, I was able to seal it all up very neatly. Installed, the tub gives the impression of being more substantial than you might expect.

So my biggest complaint is that the factory is too lazy to verify that the tub angles at the top are strait before coating. My tub was 55" long towards the inner end and 54.5" toward the outer edge. I had to demo and rebuild a wall and shim the drywall like heck. This was a mobile home retrofit. This tub does not allow (due to a cross member) for front and back runners. Typically I would run the back stringer and a 1x4 stringer on the 2 sides cannot do that here. If you install in a mobile, in order to fit the drain's trap you will need to raise the tub up about 3" or use 2 2x4s nailed to each other and boost the tub up on its Styrofoam support I put 3 rows of these 2x4s. Your overstep remains below 18" which is still acceptable figuring most mobile tubs have an 15" step in height plus 2" for the sliding glass edge your not much higher. This means you will need to provide a trim of some sort to cover the bottom of the tub. I put insulation all under the tub as the metal echos and sounds cheap. I tried to bend the edges as mentioned earlier to 54" but the porcelain coating chips off dangerously close to where it would be visible which was annoying because I have the metal working tools to fix their mistake but id risk all the porcelain coating breaking off. Literally if they just made their flanges strait upwards it would have been 54" and would have saved me over 3 days and 400$ in supplies. For the price overall i gave it a fair quality but they would have exceptional quality if they actually made to their specs. I found this to be unacceptable and will not buy Bootz products again for this reason. I found it is also extremely challenging to find a spot to measure tub level on this model. remember if this is for a mobile retrofit you will need to figure that a mobile tub is like 26" wide and this is 30" my alcove was exactly 30" so it worked fine. If I would have bought a drop in tub from a mobile home store i would have been cheaper because of the wall rebuilding (keep that in mid). On the other hand the mobile tubs of fiberglass are so easy to break (when i took out the old one) I would be scared to try to not break one as I install one if the dimensions are super close. Finally I chose to use a stick on surround with drywall. Make sure you pick up drywall J channel for about 2$ an 8 foot strip and line that along the bottom of the tub contact drywall and the water cannot touch the drywall even after several years between silicone. Also I used Coated deck screws for the drywall anywhere within 1 foot of the top of the tub down, I had a lot of drywall screws completely rusted away during demo that wont happen again. Honestly I think I'm providing too much help for bootz to sell the product for another market. Hopefully this helps someone though. Finally I would say I'm only somewhat satisfied with this product, If I could go back in time I would have bought the mobile home tub instead of this because it would have been cheaper and alot faster. Unless you want the home depot crew to ship in a bunch of these tubs and verify the 54" first then your going to be ok.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I am waiting on the 4th tub to arrive I cannot write a review on the product itself because I'm waiting for the undamaged one to arrive at my local Home Depot. The first 3 bathtubs (that each take a full week to arrive at the store for pickup) have all been damaged beyond being able to conceal. Each box looks haggard, but the damage seems to be in spots where the box is ok. The employees at Home Depot insist Home Depot .com is its own entity and they have no control over expediting freight or any compensation for each tub being damaged. I have been put behind 4 weeks on new construction. I live 30 miles from the store and each time I go to pick up the tub, I waste more gas. I do not recommend purchasing anything large with the potential to damage from home depot.com. They would prefer to take losses on freight for products than to get the item to the customer in a timely manner. Stay away from ordering this item. You will probably get the ones I refused due to extensive damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deal of the century We just bought an older home and our guest bathroom is super narrow, about 4" too short to squeeze in a standard 5 foot tub. With a small kid a tub was mandatory, but the options were miserably limited (only two tubs total on the market that I could find). I was hesitant to purchase this tub since all of the reviews mentioned it being made for mobile homes, and because the price seemed suspiciously low for a quality tub. But I'm so glad I ordered it!! This tub is awesome! Sturdy, well-built, simple lines. no scratchy slip resistant pads on the bottom. This was EXACTLY what I wanted and we love it. A big plus is that it's deeper than the other name brand option that sells for 5X's more. If you need a short tub in a small bathroom I HIGHLY recommend this one. Buy it. You won't regret it. Promise. The only con is that it's a small tub, but, duh...that's why I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made in the USA Some bathrooms are so small a standard 5' tub just will not squeeze in. We replaced a 3' corner shower with this 4'-6" Bootz tub and couldn't be happier. No more banging heads and elbows. It's larger than a 4' shower stall and offers the added resale value over a home with no tub. To look at it installed, it does not appear smaller than standard unless you measure it. We don't notice that missing 6" when using it either. The quality is excellent. Light enough for one person to move into place during installation but it feels sturdy when being used. It will chip if you drop a hammer on it but so will a $1000 tub. Good quality American craftsmanship at a more than reasonable price.
