Thank you for your interest in the Bootz product! If you are standing looking outside at the tub, if the drain location is on the right, then you need a right handed tub.

Thanks to both who offered a reply. But, there is no way to stand the tub on end due to the lack of wall clearance. Understand that this is in a manufactured home, and I was told that they very often installed the fixtures and THEN built the walls, doors, etc. afterwards. That's the exact case with the modular shower stall in my master bath. Just talked to Bootz CS, and they said I'd probably have to remove the shower surround and drywall, not only to remove the old tub(I would just cut it in two, at this point), but to install the new one in order to nail the flange to the studs. Much bigger project than I originally anticipated!

Thank you for your interest in the Bootz product. We do not have a surround available with our 54'' tub. However, please feel free to check with our sister company, Swanstone. They have a variety of surrounds and may have one that will fit your needs. Their phone number is 1-800-325-7008

How does this 54" tub fit in the 54" bathroom? I have tried a few different angles and all ive done is put holes in the.

The tub fits between the studs that are 54" apart. If the studs are covered with drywall, then you are going to have problems. If the studs are covered with concrete board with tile on top of that, then you are going to have problems. The tub fits into a space that is 54" wide, measuring from the studs in the wall on one side, across to the studs in the wall on the opposite side. Once in place, then the concrete board, tile, whatever, comes down to sit on top of the tub, all around, to seal against leaks.

Is this 54inch long and is it available in Wausau wi plus can I get a 3 sided for on top of tub like a backslash thanks

Answer

Thank you for your interest in the Bootz product. Yes, this product is 54''x30''. It is not available in a wider size. We also do not make a wall surround for the 54'' tub. However, you can check with our sister company Swanstone, as they make a variety of surrounds and may have one that fits your needs. Their number is 1-800-325-7008.

We ordered the tub since it was the right size for the space and extremely affordable. The flange for the tub is not consistent, it warps in and out, hopefully it doesn't cause problems with the installation. In addition it arrived bent with the thin porcelain veneer chipped off at the bend for a 3" by 1" section.

The bathtub looks great, and home depot ordered it and delivered it to the store. It was difficult to fit, as it was a 1969 trailer, but after retro fitting, it came together very well. The whole remodel looks great with the help of furnishings from our Home Depot.

So my biggest complaint is that the factory is too lazy to verify that the tub angles at the top are strait before coating. My tub was 55" long towards the inner end and 54.5" toward the outer edge. I had to demo and rebuild a wall and shim the drywall like heck. This was a mobile home retrofit. This tub does not allow (due to a cross member) for front and back runners. Typically I would run the back stringer and a 1x4 stringer on the 2 sides cannot do that here. If you install in a mobile, in order to fit the drain's trap you will need to raise the tub up about 3" or use 2 2x4s nailed to each other and boost the tub up on its Styrofoam support I put 3 rows of these 2x4s. Your overstep remains below 18" which is still acceptable figuring most mobile tubs have an 15" step in height plus 2" for the sliding glass edge your not much higher. This means you will need to provide a trim of some sort to cover the bottom of the tub. I put insulation all under the tub as the metal echos and sounds cheap. I tried to bend the edges as mentioned earlier to 54" but the porcelain coating chips off dangerously close to where it would be visible which was annoying because I have the metal working tools to fix their mistake but id risk all the porcelain coating breaking off. Literally if they just made their flanges strait upwards it would have been 54" and would have saved me over 3 days and 400$ in supplies. For the price overall i gave it a fair quality but they would have exceptional quality if they actually made to their specs. I found this to be unacceptable and will not buy Bootz products again for this reason. I found it is also extremely challenging to find a spot to measure tub level on this model. remember if this is for a mobile retrofit you will need to figure that a mobile tub is like 26" wide and this is 30" my alcove was exactly 30" so it worked fine. If I would have bought a drop in tub from a mobile home store i would have been cheaper because of the wall rebuilding (keep that in mid). On the other hand the mobile tubs of fiberglass are so easy to break (when i took out the old one) I would be scared to try to not break one as I install one if the dimensions are super close. Finally I chose to use a stick on surround with drywall. Make sure you pick up drywall J channel for about 2$ an 8 foot strip and line that along the bottom of the tub contact drywall and the water cannot touch the drywall even after several years between silicone. Also I used Coated deck screws for the drywall anywhere within 1 foot of the top of the tub down, I had a lot of drywall screws completely rusted away during demo that wont happen again. Honestly I think I'm providing too much help for bootz to sell the product for another market. Hopefully this helps someone though. Finally I would say I'm only somewhat satisfied with this product, If I could go back in time I would have bought the mobile home tub instead of this because it would have been cheaper and alot faster. Unless you want the home depot crew to ship in a bunch of these tubs and verify the 54" first then your going to be ok.

I should have listened to the earlier reviews about damage to the tub in the shipping container. Got it home and opened the box where I discovered a big ding out of the enamel where the support bar underneath the tub is welded. it's too late to try to get an exchange as the entire bathroom is tore apart and this is the first part to be put back in. I ordered a porcelain repair kit, hopefully the repair won't be too noticeable. If you do get this tub, open the box at the store and inspect it before you leave. The tub does look good once installed, just the damage is unacceptable.
