No more crooked frames or shelves
I got the cross line laser level because I got tired of holding the level on one hand and marking with the other. I have also used a suction style laser level, but it didn't work well on rough surfaces and sometimes moved or the laser would not project well on the wall...enter the cross line level and after its first use you will find it is money well spent. If you are installing shelves or frames on several walls, just place it in the center of the room, turn it on and you have perfect level bright lines all around. Right next to where they sell the level, they also have the tripods...those come in very handy, and if doing more than one job I also recommend you get it. Bosch makes a quality product that performs flawlessly.

Good Laser
This laser isn't bad. I would say it feels a little cheaper than the Bosch Lasers I have purchased in the past. Comes with everything you need to use this right out of the box. Off switch actually locks the internal mechanism so it's not bouncing around when you driving down the road. Auto leveling. You can select horizontal 360 line, vertical line, or both. The vertical line is much more prominent that the horizontal 360 deg line. There are two magnets on the attached stand that are neodymium type and are pretty strong. I would say this is a really good tool for the DIY person that may be putting shelves in the garage, or cabinets in the kitchen. For someone doing commercial work this might not be quite enough. Bosch lasers are my go to for lasers, They are good, affordable, and just work. My oldest Bosch laser is probably 5 years old and has been dropped, kicked, thrown, and beat to death in my toolbox. They just continue to work.

Accurate Precision Tool – Works Best in Indirect Sunlight
If you’re accustomed to using tape measures, string levels, long contractor levels, plumb bobs and inexpensive laser levels to tackle tile wall layouts, suspended ceiling grid layouts, window/door framing and so forth, this tool will probably beat them all for ease of use and accuracy, provided you’re not working in brightly lit conditions. The inexpensive levels I have used were a waste of money, projecting a beam that was seldom useful. I really wish I had this product in hand when I was tackling those projects. This product gives the feeling of a well-built tool, beginning with the solid casing material. Operation of the laser’s standard features is fairly intuitive, which is very helpful because who wants to search for the instructions in the middle of a job? The self-balancing feature is a blessing when working in older houses when nothing you rest the laser on is likely to be level. The bright laser is easily read indoors in areas of indirect sunlight or dimness. Under those conditions, I was able to see the line projections from 35’ in a dimly lit setting, but was limited to 10’ to 15’ in a big room with large patio doors (see pictures). Outdoor visibility is nonexistent. The laser came with a single attachment – a positioning device that screws into the bottom of the laser, that allows (1) horizontal surface mounting or (2) wall mounting of the laser with screws or (with an internal magnet) to a metal stud or surface. The laser can also be affixed to a tripod using the ¼-20 mounting thread on the bottom of the device. (see pictures) The user manual indicates that an additional mounting device is also available for separate purchase that will accommodate mounting the laser to ceiling grids, etc. The laser uses 4 alkaline AA batteries that are supplied with the kit, and easily installed without tools. I’ve had the tool for just a short time, so I can’t say how long the batteries will last. Unlike some other Bosch laser models, this one does not have an automatic shutoff feature, so if you forget to turn off the laser, you could be out of luck next time you go to use it. Unfortunately, this sort of thing has happened to me more than I care to admit. Operation of the laser itself is straightforward, with a “mode” button that allows instant switching between projecting a horizontal line, a vertical laser line or a cross-point (both lines intersecting) each time it is pressed. The laser will display a line that completely wraps around the room – great for positioning chair molding, cabinets or hanging patterned wallpaper, tile, etc on adjacent or opposing walls. There may be times you want a straight line, but not a level one and in those instances, the auto-level feature is easily deactivated with the push of a button. The tool comes with a brief instruction manual that includes a few graphic illustrations that show how the tool can be used for a wide variety of measurement applications. However, there is no indication that there is any way to mechanically confirm the accuracy of the level and plumb lines, or to recalibrate them. Finally, it comes with a small nicely fabricated tool pouch, with Velcro closure to protect the laser in storage. Although this is a quality precision tool, well-designed for the serious DIY’er and professional tradesman, the limited visibility of the laser lines in brightly lit areas could pose a problem for some applications, and might require a trial usage to determine if this is the right tool for your situation.

Compact, Lightweight, Arguably the New Gold Standard
The Bosch 65 ft. 360 Degree Horizontal Cross-Line Laser Level is a versatile, wel-designed tool which is useful for many applications, some of which would be difficult to achieve without it. The breakthrough technology is the 360-degree level line. With it you can ensure objects across a room are on the same level. It also has a horizontal line level mode and a vertical line level mode. Its automatic leveling function (which may be turned off if desired) is another amazing feature. The laser line is much stronger and easier to read than with my previous laser level. I have had no need to wear laser glasses. It has a magnetic arm which makes it easy to attach to a metal object to check for level. It also may be attached to a tripod for setting the height and for stabilizing the unit. It fits easily into my small hand, is lightweight, and comes with a carrying case that may be attached to one’s belt. I would have loved to have had this tool when I was installing electrical outlets in a new room. With this level, it would not have been necessary to measure every installation from the floor to get a uniform height. It is obvious useful for hanging pictures, drapery rods, or other wall hangings. I found it useful in for identifying the direction of the slope on a dehumidifier drain line. For more than a year, the drain line worked well. Then the unit’s bucket filled up and the unit turned off. With a conventional level, it still appeared that the drain line was flowing downward. With the laser level, it was apparent that the drain was level. Something had caused a change. After removing the strap holding up the pipe, the laser lever then confirmed that the slope was now downward. See photos. In the second case, we had suspected that the kitchen counter was sinking. The laser level output showed us that indeed the right corner was settling. See photo. This Bosch laser level is truly an outstanding tool. One area for improvement is the explanation of the tool’s warranty. The current warranty information is oblique. The box says “2 year warranty” in large letters. Then it goes on to say “Register your product to become eligible.” It then says “See owners manual for further details.” The difficulty for the consumer is that the details are in the box and there is no way to open the box without annihilating the packaging. The “Further details” say that the warranty is ONE year if you do not register but TWO years if you do. The registration process requests some personal information that seems irrelevant for registration. If one fails to provide the sensitive information, does that imply that the warranty will only be for one year? Why not keep it simple, e.g., on the box say “2 Year Warranty - registration or receipt needed for replacement or repair.” The registration form should also make clear what is required and what is optional.

Very happy with the performance of this laser level considering the cost. I've only used it indoors and at about a 35' max distance, no problem seeing the line at that distance indoors.

Works well. I needed to use it outdoors and found that i could see the laser better over 65 feet at night/dusk. I have not totally figured all of the uses. Luckily for me and because I needed to use it near the ground, its height was just right. Any taller and it would have not worked for me. I think in the long run I can find other helpful uses.
