I was not expecting a "Master Woodworker" product but was hoping for at least average. Well NOT ... The cutting edge of every tool but one was not square. The cutting edges were not evenly sharpened and the finish machining of the back of the cutting edges was really rough. Surely not made to slide easily behind the cut being made by the cutting edge. The overall quality of the steel I cannot speak to as I have not yet got to use them over a period of time. The handle to tool melding seems solid and looks like it will hold up. I do now have 6 tools with very nice square, sharp and polished edges. About 2 hours with a diamond file and a set of Arkansas Sharpening stones made that possible. If you are wanting a set of tools you can use right out of the "Blister Pack" to do good clean work this set is not for you. If your building a tree house - maybe. Quality control does not seem to be one of Buck Brothers strong suits.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dull, but fixable This is about what you'd expect for a $25 set of chisels, and it's literally the only game in town if you want a cash-and-carry set of carving chisels. None of the other hardware stores in my area have ANY carving chisels of any quality level, so if you want something today, it's likely this or nothing. It's not a bad choice for someone who wants to try their hand at woodcarving but doesn't want to make a huge investement in tools. It's Buck Brothers, not Two Cherries. They're dull out of the box. If you know how to sharpen chisels and are prepared to invest a couple of hours putting a decent edge on them, they should serve you well. There are some good tutorials for sharpening chisels online. Some DIY heat treating on the tips with a propane torch probably wouldn't hurt either. If you want something that's going to be good out of the box, order it online and be prepared to spend 5 times as much and wait a week for it to arrive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Find a different set somewhere As others noted, grind is terrible from the start. However, my set has dead soft steel, can easily be formed with a file, so they don't hold an edge at all. Am going to attempt to heat treat mine, but that will destroy the handles so... If you are looking for chisels to actually carve wood, look somewhere else. Terrible, bottom of the barrel Chinese products. Worse than bottom of the barrel. And NOT cheap, sadly. When you see these on the shelf, run away!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from this product is worse than the cheap stuff!!!!!!!! The edges have to be re-beveled to 30 degrees, mine were at 50!!!! Home depot should re-think selling this brand!!!!!!!!! They are pretty though!!!!!!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from needs re-sharpening One thing seems to be very consistent about this set: The cutting edges are totally unacceptable for everyone who buys them. The steel seems to be of Ok quality; nothing remarkable, but good enough to get by. I would say these are good carving tools if you want to practice sharpening edges correctly or in some cases completely re-doing them, because some of these were atrocious! They're also good if you want an inexpensive set you can abuse and learn with without risking damaging expensive tools. I recommend these tools if you know what you're doing to make their cutting edges proper.
