All inclusive and the best seeding system!
Each of these kits has 36 pre-filled squares. There’s a mat underneath the squares that draws water up from the reservoir and your seedlings draw in just the amount they need. The peat is in pellet form, so it’s about a half hour to soak those and let the peat moss puff up for planting. I recommend doing your seeding work outside, because you’ll need plenty of water and light to see where your seeds are actually going, plus it’s a watery, messy job that might ruin your indoor furniture. I left mine outside for a couple days to get really warm, and when the lid is on the system, there’s a greenhouse/humidity effect that keeps moisture and heat inside, and any critters like cats or flies out. After the original seeding in the squares, you can then drain the reservoir, bring them inside and refill in a sunny place. Everything you need is included. They’ve even included a wooden planting/smoothing tool so you can place your seeds easily. I’d give this system TEN STARS if I could! Note: Check your water levels daily. If you can’t see water near the edge of the tray, you need to fill it up. All of my Park brand seeds popped out within a week and they’re all doing beautifully and will be ready to transplant/harden off for the garden transplant within another week or so.

Self watering seed starter
Nice neat self contained kit. The pellets were extremely hard and only expanded to less than half of the cells. I had to add potting soil. Self wstering feature is great. Took about a week for sprouting.

Awesome
1. grow lights help..don’t skimp. 2. soak seeds overnight..another hint. 3. if pellets don’t expand to your liking, add more water :) Learned all this thru trial & error—passing on my wisdom to you. Enjoy!

This has worked really, since this year in my area there seems to be a shortage of plants and decided to grow my own. This system comes with directions very easy to use and the results are really good. My plans are coming along just great they should be ready to replant in a few weeks. Really excited to see them grow.

I purchased this kit to start seedlings for a new hydroponics rig I set up at my home. I was curious about being able to use the coco coir starter blocks in my hydroponics unit once the seeds had sprouted. The Coconut coir works just fine. I was also concerned about the expansion of the starter discs, or plugs, after reading some of the reviews. I had NO problem with the discs that I inserted correctly - the only issue I had was I had a couple inserted on edge, instead of with a flat side down, and they expanded sideways. This was MY fault. As an experiment I started seedlings in about 1/2 of the provided coco coir plugs / discs. The remainder of the cells I filled with Rock Wool plugs in which I had started seedlings about a week before. While the rock wool plugs didn't exactly fit the empty cell dimensions I was able to press them down so that they were watered by the wick system. I then planted seedlings in the coco coir discs. Have to say that my sprout rate on the Burpee discs was MUCH higher than in the rock wool plugs. Overall I am impressed with the performance of this inexpensive kit. I will reuse the kit, including the coco coir discs, for future seedlings for my hydroponic rig.
