      Better than expected
I didn't even know anyone made a portable water heater. Such a cool idea. It connects to a standard 20lb propane tank and a garden hose. This model has a small electric water pump so in theory you could put one end of the hose in a fresh water supply and use the pump to build pressure. I like that the manufacturer included a lot of adapters for power for the water pump. It comes with battery clamps as well as a cigarette lighter adapter and the power cord has a good amount of length. The manufacturer thoughtfully included an adapter so you can connect a garden hose directly to the water inlet if you have a city water supply and it has quick disconnects. This negates the need for the pump and a 12v battery. There is only a mesh screen to filter debris so if your water source isn't very clean it might be a good idea to attach an external filter to prevent buildup. Personally, I'm a little frustrated that this needs two D-cell batteries to function. This is the only device in my entire house that uses D-cell batteries so I had to go out and buy them specifically for this. However, with a little ingenuity you could probably wire it up to use a 12v to 3v converter. Also, I can't find any markings or a label on the device to indicate which direction the batteries should be inserted and there are little tabs that I think are meant to keep the batteries from moving, but they make it a bit tough to insert and remove them. Careful you don't break them off. The operating manual does show you which direction to insert the batteries, but let's be honest, who keeps the operating manual on something as simple as this. Trying to put batteries in this thing at a dark campsite could be tough. So, make sure you do it in the daylight because you'll need to see inside the compartment to see the battery terminals. Take note that the water flow and temperature control knobs turn in opposite directions to increase or decrease them. I got confused at first trying to adjust the water flow, because turning the knob to the right actually reduces the amount of water instead of increasing it. Kind of a weird design but doesn't really affect anything. The collapsable hanging handle is super convenient. Makes it easy to temporarily hang it off the side of a tree or fence or even the water spigot if you had to. And they even included a mountable bracket to hang the shower head off a tree or something. As far as performance goes, it works great. I connected it to my 20ln propane tank and garden hose and it heats the water up nicely. Not as hot as the water heater in my house but enough to take a shower when you're tent camping and it gets hot almost right away. The amount of water flow isn't terrible either. You'll know whether it's working because once it has gas and water flow the igniter will start clicking, but I don't see any kind of LED light that would indicate whether it is functional. Ultimately, in the end my only gripes are the battery setup and the controls but in my opinion it doesn't warrant deducting a star. I don't give out 5 stars very often but I think this deserves it.

      Not bad
First off, I really like the idea of a portable water heater- to be clear this is definitely not something for permanent use or permanent installation. Also, this has to be used outside- not in an enclosed space. The quick detach couplings are nice to have, but are not very robust. The included water pump comes with two options to power it- a cigarette lighter or clamps to attach directly to the a battery.
